Why does that sound so much like the Westboro Baptist Church's ravings? Granted, the latter aim their filth at America, while the Islamists described in the article direct them at Britain, but both Britain and America are considered to be bastions of Western Civilization, so you might say both groups are targeting the same thing: civilization itself. And using religion of one stripe or another as an excuse for doing so.
The most merciful thing in the world, I think, is the inability of the human mind to correlate all its contents. We live on a placid island of ignorance in the midst of black seas of infinity, and it was not meant that we should voyage far. The sciences, each straining in its own direction, have hitherto harmed us little; but some day the piecing together of dissociated knowledge will open up such terrifying vistas of reality, and of our frightful position therein, that we shall either go mad from the revelation or flee from the light into the peace and safety of a new dark age.

The Call of Cthulhu"
Ph'nglui mglw'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh wgah'nagl fhtagn, indeed. At least the Mythos cultists have the grace to be open and aboveboard about their motives: the siren call of addiction to dreadful ecstasy. Same as the Islamists and the Westboro Baptist Church, who think they're fooling all of us with their religious spiels.
