There are bacteria which are really good at cleaning oil up in the water. Also, many fungi love long-chain hydrocarbons for dinner -- here are two out of about a zillion search-engine hits on "fungus hydrocarbon" about it:

Mechanisms for polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon degradation by ligninolytic fungi
It's going to be a long, hard couple of winters for Gulf fishermen and others who depend on the Gulf for their livelihood, though.
