On why astrobiology can't be explained in words of one syllable in under 10 minutes
If you check out the comments in this post, you'll find a fairly deep exchange having to do with general ecology, astrobiology, planetary evolution, geology, paleontology, paleobiology, and related topics. People with little or no background in the biological and geological sciences or even any of the hard sciences frequently ask me to explain how these work in simple language in a few easy sentences. I'm sorry, it doesn't work that way. The comments in the post linked above will make clear why.
