Oil Is Gushing So…Immigration Speech!
Those who can, do. Those who can’t, schedule so many speeches their voices begin to sound like so much background noise. {link to:
http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/washington/2010/06/obama-arizona-illegal-immigrant-law-mexican-border.html} With polls showing he’s on the losing end of the public opinion tide in favor of Arizona’s new illegal immigrant law, President Obama has decided to construct a wordy barrier of speeches along the insecure border issue with Mexico.
The latest speech comes Thursday morning, when the Democrat goes to American University in Washington to repeat his view that securing and sealing the nation’s southern frontier against the flow of illegal immigrants, drugs, traffickers, criminals and terrorists is only a part of the solution to what he describes as “our broken immigration system.”
How could he know that securing and sealing the border is only part of the solution if it hasn’t been tried yet? Anyone from Team Lightbringer able to answer that? I’ll wait…
OK, long enough.
The faster this train rushes down the mountain without brakes, speeding inexorably towards an end we all know won’t be pretty, the more I’m convinced that this president couldn’t think his way out of an open bathroom.
President Obama’s only real solution to anything seems to be the sound of his own voice. In lieu of mature policy, speeches, town halls and summits are staged for cameras like so many bad community theater productions of Hair.
How did the president prepare for this speech? By having a secret meeting behind closed doors with the Congressional Hispanic Caucus.
Does anybody want to spitball the over/under on how many times securing the border was seriously mentioned during that little circle-jerk?
Obama fans still full of the Kool-Aid constantly praise his measured, “professorial” ways. I think they’re simply getting their euphemism on to avoid saying he’s boring. “Professorial” implies depth and this president doesn’t have much. His reactions range from childlike petulance to surface distractions that are meant to convey that he’s hard at work on whatever it is he’s actually supposed to be doing.
Those of us who have never been fans of this president have found his m.o. tedious and fruitless from the beginning. Now, as the oil still gushes, many who were all-in for him are growing weary of the grandstanding.
Stay weary, my friends.
