I just moved my money . . .

Jun 03, 2010 20:32

. . . from J P Morgan Chase to US Bank.

I did so because a) I hate Chase -- they ate my bank, Wamu; b) Chase doesn't pay interest on savings accounts, at least not on those with less than $10,000 in them (!), whereas US Bank does; c) there's a branch of US Bank right across the street from where I live, inside Albertson's, and it's open 7 days a week; and d) the tellers and bank executives are very, very helpful.

Though I like the tellers and bank exeuctives over at my local branch of Chase, at the corner of Greenwood Ave N and N 85th Street here in Seattle, because they, too, are friendly and helpful, I hate the bastards that bought Wamu out and took over the Wamu branch on that corner. Chase and other giant banks are utterly indifferent to peons like me who just happen to be their customers:

So far, anyway, US Bank seems to be very aware that its customers are its lifeblood, and as long as that holds, I'll stay with them. (Otherwise, there's also BECU Credit Union.)

Move your money away from the gigantic, heartless, arrogant corporate bank systems that are "too big to fail" and don't give a shit about any of us to the smaller banks that do still have a stake in their customers' goodwill. If they're still FDIC insured, they're worth a try. The big guys aren't any more. Make the big ones hurt -- don't bank on them.
