Mark Bunker (Wise Beard Man) has been tipping us to several embarrassing developments for Scientology overseas lately.

The newest was yesterday's raid of a Scientology center in Turin, Italy, where investigators uncovered a basement stash of records containing " ( Read more... )

Why do you still refuse to differentiate between Corporate Scientology and the independent practitioners who are not party to any of the actions you report? I provided you with ample evidence that they exist, are organized (somewhat), and have publicly disavowed any connection to the corporation known as the Church of Scientology.

All I'm asking is that you not smear good people with the ink of the Church's well-deserved bad press. If you say "the Church of Scientology" everyone knows what you mean. If you say "Scientology" it includes those outside the church who are not doing the crimes you're complaining about, but do use Hubbard's counseling & study techniques regularly.

I'll tell you why: Because a bunch of Scientologists gave my adoptive mother a marvelous excuse to do anything to me she wanted: "Well, you're just helping her work out her past-life karma!" In other words, you can do anything you want to, up to and including murder, to anyone, including newborn children, and get away with it because you're just helping them work out their past-life karma. Child molestation, baby-rape, theft, murder, you name it, all crimes are justified by that, up to and including, e.g., the Armenian Genocide carried out by the Turks 1915-1917, the Holocaust perpetrated by the Nazis, Stalin's murder of 20 million -- no matter what it is, you aren't guilty of anything because you're ( ... )

You are entitled to believe any damned thing you want. And I am entitled to believe any damned thing I want, and write my opinions about it here and elsewhere. I'm not threatening anyone's life, I'm not committing a crime by stating what I've lived through and what I believe and what I detest and what I love. So what's the problem? Are you so unsure of your beliefs that the fact that anyone contradicts them upsets you? Why do you give a damn? I've lived through a whole lot of history you haven't -- not surprising, as I'm 65 years old, and I gather you are much younger -- and what I've learned about life, people, Scientology, and Dianetics as a result is behind everything I've said about Scientology. Why do you feel so threatened by one individual who isn't a member of anything? What frightens you about me? You have to be frightened of me to feel so threatened by what I've said about Scientology. Why? I'm a nobody, and, I assure you, what I put up here about Scientology is in most part re-posting of others' writings. Why ( ... )
