WOMEN IN PERIL: A Look at TV's Disturbing New Storyline Trend

I'm tempted to say, "So what else is new?"  In Book 2 of Volume 1 of Dragon Drive I have one of the characters say this:

“Well, for one thing, before the War, Monty deliberately kept a low profile as far as academia went. He’s more self-educated than anything else, because where he grew up, in a lot of places, if you showed how smart you were, you got the shit beaten out of you at regular intervals by the school bullies, and then the teachers would treat you special, try to prepare you to go to college, and at that point the shit would really hit the fan. He told me about fellow students who were murdered because they didn’t hide their lights under a bushel - even one girl who was dragged into the girl’s bathroom at her school and forcibly douched by a bunch of the nastier girls with 35% lye solution because she dared to make A’s consistently in the tests given in class.”

Actually, that came from what one of my foster-sisters told us back in 1964 about an incident at her school.  This isn't new.  What's new is that this sort of thing has now become overt rather than taking place in the shadows as it used to.  Time it came out and showed itself so we can make it stop.
