There are legal reasons in this country for revealing one's face, say, at trial and on one's driver's license; but also, the burqa symbolizes the captivity of women in Muslim cultures, and tolerating it is like tolerating any form of slavery. The only argument in its favor I know of is that wearing it hides all but the eyes, and because the eyes are generally attractive even when the rest of the face isn't, this gives women a weird sort of equality, erasing age and disability from consideration by others. And that just isn't enough.
