Diabolo update: It's amazing how much dogged persistence can pull off. Instead of spending my lunch break fiddling around with various tricks with the diabolo that I can kind of do, I just focused on this one that I was having trouble with, called the Cat's Cradle, and did it over and over for 15 or 20 minutes, until I finally pulled it off ( Read more... )

I got my brand new Henry's Circus Diabolo in the mail on Friday!! I'm so happy! It's really cool: bright red like my other one, but made of nice sturdy rubber, with aluminum hubs and a nice set of handsticks. The Diabolo Book also came with it, full of neat tips and tricks. So yesterday, as Theresa and I were walking back from our lunch break, we saw this squirrel stalking along the side of a building. It wasn't doing that springing motion that most squirrels use as their primary means of propelling forward. No, it was walking cat-style, each leg moving individually. It was so strange-looking!
