Okay, Tom had a really good idea about continuing with these random questions, so I'm going to do that for Jacques, since the first set of questions he got didn't really plumb any unexplored depths for me. So! Here we go!
95. If you could choose, how would you want to die?
I would want to die for my country. Or, at least, saving a large number of people. I'd like my death to have meaning, to be worth something in the grand scheme of things. I want to do something incredibly heroic and leave a great story behind me. I don't want to die pointlessly.
83. What are your pet peeves?
Waste. Waste, waste, waste. Waste of wealth, waste of food, waste of talent, waste of lives. Nothing irritates me more than seeing gross displays of wealth when people are starving outside, or people not living their lives up to their full potential, for whatever reason. Maybe they're afraid of failing, or maybe they just don't want to rock the boat. Either way, it irritates me. It's a waste of life, which is the most precious gift we're given. I guess this goes hand in hand with my feelings about "willful ignorance"--people not taking the time to make informed decisions, even when they are fully capable of becoming informed. Damn it, people, you have the educational resources of the richest nation on Theah, and you're telling me that you can't come up with an economic system that works? That the fashion of the moment is more important than, say, actually understanding your people?
Excuse me. *adjusts ascot and clears throat* I was a little temperamental there. On a smaller scale, there aren't really minor things that I let bother me, per se--unless they're small manifestations of the above. I suppose that ink stains also irritate me. They're bloody impossible to remove. Good way to ruin a perfectly serviceable waistcoat.
55. Who is the person you respect the most, and why?
Her Royal Majesty, Queen Elaine. She has brought so much to Avalon! She is the very epitome of wise leadership that can only come about when a ruler truly loves and understands her people.
68. Do you like interacting with large groups of people? Why or why not?
This may come as a surprise, but yes, I do enjoy large crowds. Not all the time, mind you--I like to have my quiet evenings now and then. I wouldn't want to be in a room full of people every single day. But back home, I loved going down to the tavern and having a stout and listening to stories and singing and dancing the old songs with everybody. There is a feeling of camaraderie one gets in a situation like that, that you can't quite get anywhere else. And I do love the spectacle and fun of festival days, and the rush and bustle of busy markets! So much to see and do, and so many people to meet! As for my current situation, crowds are useful to me. It makes it easy to avoid notice.
29. What do you consider the most important event of your life so far?
I was born? *chuckles* Many things have happened to me over the course of my life which I would consider important, but nothing has quite changed things for me as much as my leaving home.
