I took yesterday off from work due to waking up with a surprise sore throat. Halfway through getting ready for work, I realized I didn't have the energy to keep going, let alone make the ten-minute walk through the snow to the bus stop, and doing so wouldn't be advisable, anyway. I was tired, not in the "gee, it would be nice to sleep for another half-hour" way, but in the "I'm ready to collapse because my body is redirecting all its energy to fighting something off" way. So I collapsed back into bed and slept on and off for another four hours or so. Throughout the day I pretty much took it easy, getting up here and there to eat or drink something. By the evening I was feeling a lot better, and today I was well enough to come back into work.
That said, my inner ears still itch and my throat feels sore, but I definitely feel like I'm back on the road to health. Yay!
The serendipitous part of this is the fact that on Monday, Brian and I went grocery shopping and I just happened to pick up some Campbell's Chicken Noodle soup, which is always a good thing to have in the house when one is ill.
