Welcome to my Gameroom of CRAZY

Why is it that whenever I get sick, as soon as I start to recover, my sinuses start freaking out? The end-result is a Jen that is feeling much better but hacking up a lung and blowing mucus all over the place :P

Yeah, I haven't posted in a while. In fact, my LJ friends list has been suspiciously quiet for the past couple of weeks.

Anyway, Brian and I have been buried in a lot of stuff. He's starting a new job on Tuesday, we're house-hunting AND preparing for the Japan trip in mid-March. So I guess you can say we have a lot on our plates.

The house-hunting is certainly progressing. We've found one house we absolutely love, but we're gonna take a sweep around Monroeville next to see if anything there is comparable. Also, Pittsburgh houses, what is up with your tiny bedrooms, small windows and the frikkin' WOOD PANELING?! It's like, every Pittsburgh house with a game room on the lower level decided to renovate said game room in the 70's, coating everything with wood paneling.

Now don't get me wrong; wood paneling can look awesome in the right circumstances, if it's the right type of wood and it's visually broken up somehow. But I get the suspicious feeling that these hypothetical 70's Yinzers would have covered their windows, ceilings and couches with wood paneling if it had been feasible. THIS IS HOW MUCH THEY LIKED THEIR WOOD PANELING.

Anyway, after typing this up I realize that I'm still convalescing. You can tell because I sound LOOPY.

Crazy find of the day: Brian and I took a look at one house because, judging by the photos, it had an awesome finished gameroom complete with fireplace, bar and nice flooring. We get there and find that it is a Gameroom of CRAZY. The bar? You can't actually get behind it. It's a fake, completely unusable bar. You could climb over it, sure, but then you'd be standing on a completely unfinished patch of floor. The bar is entirely for show. What the heck? Who DOES that?!

this american life, strange thoughts
