When we're younger we're always cautioned of the choices we make then because we might regret them later on, because there's a sure chance that what we want then won't be what we want later on in our lives. Im sure at the moment we dont really invision that because, what do we really know when we're young? But once time goes by and we start to grow up, we face change like you say and desire new things. It's the way of life and if it were different than we wouldnt experience new things and new ways of seeing things. Its like a life lesson. We cant always be kids forever, but if we were than we'd miss out on alot. Its just a matter on how you take and face things. We're always gonna miss people and Im sure we'll be missed as well, but as it is we have to make room for the new people in our lives. And challenges are defidently your kind of thing :p
