Whirlwind of Activity

Oct 24, 2010 13:12

The last two weeks have been a whirlwind of activity. On Wednesday, October 13th, my younger sister officially signed with Tate Music Group [link]. It is all quite surreal. This is literally her life-long dream come true! She is now working on 8-10 songs for her debut album. Jessi is not a lyricist, but she comes up with amazing melodies. So she is creating melodies for four songs written by a very good friend of ours in California, Ebony. I have also written two songs for her: Whispers of Love and Songs of Deliverance. I created the melody for the first song, but this week we will work together to create the melody for the second song.

I am also working furiously on Jessica's website. The delay is because we changed art directions midway through. Sometimes that happens. Anyway, the site is powered by WordPress so once it is finished, Jessi can update the site herself. I will let you guys know when it is up because we will be featuring a snippet of Jessica's song Jericho.

In addition to all of the excitement surrounding Jessica's signing, last week I finished up my summer semester classes, took the finals, and paused for a few minutes to breath deeply and relax. I watched The Karate Kid (2010) and How to Train Your Dragon (2010) and fell in love with their soundtracks written by James Horner and John Powell, respectfully. My order of NaNoWriMo merchandise arrived Friday: NaNo stickers, journal, fancy pen, cute keychain, T-Shirt, an autographed No Plot, No Problem by Chris Baty, and an awesome canvas bag. I am psyched for November even if I have not prepared story-wise as thoroughly as I typically do. As I mentioned on the NaNo forums: As this is not a serious novel, I do not plan to take any part of the preparations or writing too seriously. Considering I typically write extremely complex, meticulously detailed novels with interwoven subplots and deep characters, writing a light-hearted, action-packed, comedy-adventure will be a nice break. Also, since I will be tremendously busy this November, it will be far easier to write. ;) For more information on my NaNoWriMo 2010 project, visit my writing journal at jacquelynfisher. Most entries are Friends Only.

Fall Semester, Session A classes officially open today. I am taking Information Design and Web Animation. After reading through the syllabi, both look a bit intense with the readings, workload, and both have final projects. This will be an interesting session for sure, but I am up for the challenge.

I am going to have to put together a daily schedule to make sure I spend enough time on my classes, my two web projects (Jessi's site and the school site), and NaNoWriMo.

And check out some recent artwork:

A very fast sketch!

I had not done any digital coloring in a while. This turned out better than I expected, but I still need a lot of work.
