arg, my legs hurt so bad it's not even funny. if anyone knew how bad they hurt, they'd really feel sorry for me.
anyway, the symposium thing was interesting. a lot about predators and just a basic intro to a program they want in the schools and with teen mentors to help other kids not to go out to meet people they only met on line. Soooooooooo many predators. And in the presentation was this awesome film by a 15 year old...whose dad was a predator. And some information on rapes and murders committed by predators who conned girls into meeting them after chatting on line. One guy flew from California to Texas. This girl was from the east coast and she was on a school trip with her MOM and they flew to Texas and he went to her hotel and got a room and told her to meet him there. Of course, she was pretty surprised to find a 40 year old, rather than a 17 year old and he raped her for four hours. Till finally one of the kids spilled to her mom that she was meeting this guy. they searched every room and found them. She's one of the lucky ones.
And this one dude who was in jail for raping and murdering a 13 year old he met on line went to jail and set up a stupid webby, advertising himself as a teenage boy in order to meet his next victims. The dude was married and everything!! And he's in JAIL setting up websites to meet kids. HELLO??? How about no internet in jail!!! It's supposed to be jail not some camp. geeeeez
Anyway, more info to follow, community meetings and all that. oh, and in the question/answer deal at the end, this dude says some guy his daughter was chatting with showed up at his HOUSE and that this guy has been soliciting 13 to 15 year old girls in the area. Ummm, helllllooooo, so did he call the police and report this? ummm, no.
