STAR WARS1, I love this, the composition is beautiful, and I love the colouring. Even though I know purple and yellow are technically complimentary colours it always shocks me how beautifully they work together. 2 is good, excellent use of texture and adding something to that negative space, I love it. 3 The texture works less well here, as the white is so strong it overpowers the image a little. I do like the idea though, I would say fade the texture a little. 4 is a great use of negative space, absolutely love it. 5 is less effective than 4, but still pretty. 6 is cute. 7 is also cute, better use of texture than 3 too. 8 is very pretty as well, I love the crop. 9 is way too yellow/green, but nice crop. 10 is an amazing comp, the blending is perfect. 11 the blending works better on 10 if only because the image of the igloo (shut up) blends better in the colouring of 10. 12 is pretty, I love the overall brownness. 13 is a great use of textures, I love the text and the plasticine texture. 14 is another great use of textures but I wish the colouring on her face was less harsh.
STAR TREK XI1, why is he so pretty? (I'm rewatching old Xena episodes because of him, serious lulz.) I like the brown colouring it is very pretty on these. 2 nice blurred text, and nice having the text work with the image in terms of fracturing it along the angle of his face. 3 is nice crop, but I would erase the texture over his face more. 4 is interesting, but I like it when I can read all of the text. 5 is great colouring. I love the clarity, and darkness, which is hard in these caps. I wish I could figure out this colouring. 6 is a beautiful black and white, and an excellently used plasticine texture there, really ace. 7 is fail on their expressions but excellent comp. 8 I love the idea, but I don't like the stroke here, I'm sorry, it is such a good crop and colouring, the text done like that just seems to cheapen it somehow, sorry. 9 is great text, b&w, AND blurred text, I love it. 10 is a good comp, I like it. 11 is a nice comp, I like it. 12 is nice, but the text doesn't work quite as well as it could be. 13 is great crop and text, I love it. 14 a little too yellow, but I like the text. 15 is a good blend. 16 is good text. 17 is a little too dark, but I love the crop, nice Enterprise drawings.
STAR TREK: THE ORIGINAL SERIES1 is a great use of negative space, the beehive is totally making this icon. 2 is good crop, icons that usually are too busy, somehow work better on Star Trek because it is so damned iconic and technicolor. 3, the colouring is a little too brown, and the plasticine texture needs to be a little toned down. 4 is pretty, the texture here works brilliantly. 5's texture could be erased from Bones and Spock's face and perhaps figures. The colouring is also a little bit too harsh. 6&7 are great uses of negative space but both are hard to read on the face, too brown, and too dark. 8 is harder to read, and slightly too brown and dark. 9 is slighty too harsh, and light around the faces. 10 is nice comp, the blue of the text could be saturated a little bit or lightened, or drop shadowed, it just needs a little more clarity. 11 is great use of brightness and over saturation, I love the redness, it is brilliant. I love it, the whole thing is so pretty. 12 is also a great use of bright colours. 13 is beautiful, great use of negative space, and her posture is great. 14 the texture could be lightened a little, and the Uhura is great text. 15 is a great crop, it could be brighter and lighter however.
Also dude: if you couldn't do any day but wednesday you should have told me! I would have been able to work around it, I have something of so much awesome to share with you. Especially given how much we love young!Bones.
Ty babe! Your crit is on target as always. OLD XENA EPS?! IS THAT WHAT YOU WOULD HAVE SHOWED ME?! OMG I WOULD HAVE LOVED! We should still watch them! Ahhhh a bee is buzzing right outside my window trying to get in. GO AWAY PLZ.
Oh young!Bones.
I need to tell you about the Star Trek exhibit I just went to, it was pretty awesome and I sat in TNG Captain's chair, but first I need to tell you that you were nom'd mightily HERE babe. Go see!!
I always forget to look there when people tell me when I'm getting nominated. I kinda feel like a bitch, I just forget. :(
We should watch some Xena eps (and one Hercules episode he's in, because it is so LULZ worthy), but what I need to show you would break your mind even more. :)
The exhibit in Philly? 'Cause dude, awesome. Pics of you trying to be more awesome than Picard?
YES! At the Franklin! It was smaller than I expected but still pretty sweet. Mostly TNG stuff, but some other goodies too. Mmmm Karl Urban's Bones costume made me want to lick the glass was there, for instance. Unfortunately they are totally fckn bitches and don't allow fotografia because they are majorly hurting for money and instead offer to take your picture while sitting in one of the Captain's chairs on display and then SELL IT TO YOU FOR $30. REALLY? REALLY? Admission was already 24$. I snuck a photo but it's ridiculously blurry because they will throw you out if they see you snapping away. Cheap.
We're nom'd in the same post too! i was just going through and then I was all, ALICE?
I know, the nominater (shut up) was even using one of your Rose icons too. That sucks you couldn't take a picture, that is supreme assery. But OMG my tongue would be on that friggin' glass. Seriously, I might have to plan a heist.
They also have that major Gallileo show up, and like 50% of the kids in the Philly school system were there to see it, but one group got to walk through the ST show when they were done on their way to the practical science exhibit halls. Their guide was trying to tell them about current space missions and ask them questions about Galileo's telescope, but they were too busy thundering through screaming "STAR TREK! STAR TREK! STAR TREK! LOOK! IT'S THE DOCTOR'S OUTFIT! LOOK IT'S ENGINEERING! I'M SITTING IN THE CAPTAIN'S CHAIR! STAR TREK STAR TREK!" lololololol and it warmed the cockles of my heart. They will learn about science his'tries laterz kk.
Actually ST IS basically a part of science history at this point, half the show was about how it's achieved a legitimate and important place in the culture and history of science, engineering, medicine, technology, and of course space travel. And boy has it!
WOW is World of Warcraft love. Geek fail.
I WANTED TO STEAL IT. IT WAS BEHIND GLASS THAT WAS POSSIBLY BULLETPROOF!? THOUGH. Maybe they anticipated the lust.
Okay that was geek fail, but I've never been a gamer, so...
And yeah Star Trek is an important part of science history (even if the movie totally fails at basic science).
Bulletproof glass, HAH, this fangirl watched To Catch A Thief before she could talk, they will not be able to keep me from the shirt that has touched Karl Urban. ...I'M NOT CRAZY!!!!!!
