Christmas Countdown: 14 December, 2008

Dec 14, 2008 01:35

Welcome to today's edition of the Countdown! I've been looking forward to writing about these since the day I found them. This is a must-try, so I'd encourage you to hightail it out to a Target sometime this afternoon and find them for yourself. Behold!

Archer Farms (aka Target-brand) has unleashed these devilish treats upon the masses: Candy Cane Dark Chocolate-dipped Pretzel Rods. Take a pretzel rod, dip that sucker in dark chocolate and roll it in shattered candy cane bits...this, my friends, is a recipe for deliciousness. I must confess, I've been snacking on these for weeks now since discovering them. The dark chocolate and the pretzels dance their dance with fiery passion and the candy cane chunks only add to the big show. I'm sure your facial expressions will emulate mine while you enjoy these, whether you pretend it's a cigar or not.

So there ya go, for those of you who seem to enjoy my strange facial expressions for whatever reason. Those are some real gems for your scrapbooks. Goofy faces aside, these pretzels are pretty amazing and I can't recommend them enough. Go hit up your friendly neighborhood Target and pick em up, you'll be glad you did!

I realize that only a handful of you will be familiar with the Publix supermarket chain, but it should be known that they've mastered the market when it comes to heartwarming holiday commercials. From Valentine's Day to Halloween to Christmas, obiously, you can never throw too many happy families, cute kids or adorable babies into a Publix commercial. Take a look!

This commercial's got all the elements you need for a happy family Christmas dinner - people traveling, people cooking, people stealing bits and pieces of ham and turkey, and just when you think you've got it all figured out, BAM! It's on a boat! The music sort of creeps me out a little, though...sounds like John Carpenter wrote the score to a Christmas movie or something. Happy Holidays from Publix - where shopping is a pleasure!

Have a great Sunday, everybody! What's for dinner tonight?
