CHRISTMAS COUNTDOWN!

Dec 17, 2007 05:10

December 17th! Welcome aboard my friends, for another tour aboard the good ship Countdown. I'm heading home for Georgia later tonight, so tomorrow morning's entry may be slightly delayed. I'll try to get myself lined up for an update tonight, but bear with me if it takes an extra few hours. Catchin' the red-eye from San Diego straight over to Atlanta, so hopefully I'll bypass all the crummy weather that's shutting down the mid-west. As for today's entry, I'm revisiting Christmas Cookies. A few people saw my chocolate chip experiment and lashed out. "WHY'D YOU BURN THOSE COOKIES?!" they screamed. It's not my fault! I'm no baker! So give me a second chance. I picked up some Pillsbury sugar cookies, some frosting and some decorations. I'll spare you the baking process, since it's the same as the chocolate chips. Let's see how they turned out!

I think they came out pretty great, if I say so myself! I used some Betty Crocker frosting and colored it with food coloring to make things more interesting. I followed the timing directions more carefully and managed to pull them out before they burned, so they're more like cookies and less like Civil War hardtack. I'll be taking them in to work to share with my people, so I'll let you guys know how things went. So, what do you think? Success on the cookies? I wanna know!

Here we go...maybe a few of you out there have been waiting for this one. It's a modern classic that only shows up around this time of the year. So saddle up with a slice of pie and let's roll the clip!

Fa la-la la-la, French Vanilllaaa! That line captivated that nation as soon as it was unleashed upon us. Even to this day, some people can't hear "Deck the Halls" without mentioning French Vanilla. That party certainly has a bunch of desserts going on. Either we missed the main course or we busted straight into a Dessert Party. I've never been invited to a Dessert Party, but I think I'd like to attend one someday. Anybody throwing any Dessert Parties lately? Don't forget your old friend! Me! Paul! Hey! Let's try something today. I average about 35 views per day on this fancy blog, but I don't know who's reading out there. So why don't we take a roll call - if you read today, sign your name and give me a hello! Kind of a Christmas Countdown Meet-and-Greet. Don't be strangers! Have an outstanding Monday, kids!

BONUS!

A little bonus for you today. Since there's wintry weather blustering all over the majority of the country, I wanted to share a couple of shots I took of the sunset from my backyard today. Check it out. Who wants to come visit me before March? That beach? That's where I live! Dig!
