Gooood morning folks! December 11th! Time marches on with a quickness and stops to take no prisoners. We're fast approaching the big day and, to compensate for my recent spurt of food and drink-related entries, I'd like to use today to let you take a look at an amazing Christmas episode from one of my favorite TV shows of all time, "The Adventures of Pete and Pete". The full episode is here, for your viewing pleasure, broken down into 3 parts. For those of you who read at work or in a place where you can't hear sound, you may want to save this one for when you're back home. Or if you're just here to see me with pictures of food shoved in my mouth, you may wanna skip it altogether. That's entirely your call! But you'll be missing out! So, without further ado, I present to you, 'Oh Christmas Pete', courtesy of some dude on Youtube and Noggin, the network where Nickelodeon shows go to die.

Kids these days just don't get TV like this anymore. It's all about selling soundtracks and being trendy and, apparently, having Billy Ray Cyrus on your show is star power that you can take straight to the bank. The money bank! 'Pete and Pete' really shaped my sense of humor and, dare I say, my values, during my formative years. There's a lot of heart and plenty of morals to be found in the stories of the citizens of Wellsville.
If you're not familiar with the series, I highly encourage you to check out the first two seasons on their very affordable DVD sets. Make them into Christmas gifts for yourself! The episode you just saw doesn't even feature Artie, the Strongest Man in the World, and he's worth the price of those discs alone! Then there's Ellen Hickle, Bus Driver Stu Benedict, Principal Schwinger, Endless Mike, Papercut, Johnny Earwax...it's a rich mythology that you can only appreciate by watching. So do yourself a favor and check it out! Thanks for watching!
Annnnd today's commercial brings us back to the soft drink aisle! Santa Claus versus the Cool Spots...take a look!

Who could forgot that scream from the Cool Spot as his fire truck careens down the tree branch and into the window? That alone took me back to the day when this was on TV. I'm also a big fan of the fattest cat ever skittering out of the way on the floor. It takes him a second to get some traction there and it cracks me up every time. This ad is another example of a company not necessarily promoting you a product, but just showing you an amusing 30 second story to make you crack a smile. Things would be different if Santa flew away sipping on a bottle of 7-Up, but the plug at the end is enough to remind you that there's probably a refreshing can of 7-Up in the fridge. Why not go drink it? I think I'll go have one right now, actually! Happy Tuesday, folks...keep it together, we're almost to Hump Day!
