i blame
nick @ nite's overzealous airings of the
fresh prince of bel-air for the return of one of my least favorite fashion trends: the super cropped jacket/shrug thing. in the episode where ashley finally gets her
goddamn marketing tie-in, she performs her single* wearing a strapless bra and said black jacket. said black jacket, i might add, is the most useless piece of outer/over-wear i have ever seen. it does not keep you warm, especially not then you are only wearing a bra underneath the jacket. plus, they cut your torso and make you look shorter. not friggin attractive. and this specific jacket is even smaller and less useful and more irritating that the cropped jacket of
the outfit that won the macy's challenge this season of project runway. but it has long sleeves, because that's what's going to be cold in this outfit. please. so anyway, i figure, given the repeat rate of nick @ nite, and the fact that this episode played twice tonight, this episode probably plays about 4 times a month, and some down and out coked-up-yet-still-home-at-night fashion designer zeroed in on the jacket and decided it would be a good time to resuscitate it, 20 year fashion trend rule be damned!
in short, could the things i love stop superficially ruining my life?
*and did i own the first single she came out with? you betcha. on cassette. better or worse purchase than the macarena single? you decide. michela, you don't get to weigh in on this because you still own hanson cds.
