Last weekend one of our group inadvertently found the quickest way down a mountain with their Land Rover. The mountain was very steep, very rocky and slippery, with 5 switchbacks to get to the top. Just as they got to the top, the rock gave out under their rear tire, and they rolled 2 times (possibly 3) down the mountain, miraculously landing on the wheels, on the trail, about 4 inches from another steep dropoff. Both occupants are doing fine, with 18 stitches between them, lots of sore muscles, and no permanent injuries, luckily. Someone was looking out for them.
Here are the 'before' pictures
Here are the 'during' pictures - It's already rolled once, as the roof rack and hood are gone
Here is the 'after' picture - both occupants are being administered to on hte ground on the other side of the truck, while another group works to secure it so it doesn't slide any futher down the mountain.
Luckily, there was cell phone reception on the mountain, and help arrived very quickly, plus, one of our group is a doctor, and he arrived on the scene quickly too.
All in all, very scary, and 2 very lucky people.
