[1st Time Hopping To It - Voice]

[Tiana's voice comes across cool and calm, but there is a hint of... Sheepishness in there, as if she is embarrassed to be asking for this advice from so many folks who are so much younger than her. Her voice certainly betrays the fact that she is older than the average new trainer.]

Alright, y'all, my name's Tiana and I've got a question or two for ( Read more... )

A bond is one wrought of good feelings, emotions, all of that fun stuff. It really is sort of a compatibility thing where when you and the Pokemon get along better.

Oh I'm Henry. I run a store here in Eterna.

[A little sigh, she begins speaking quickly to try and hide it.] I see. Well, thank you. Are you close to your Pokemon?

Nice to meet you, Henry. Eterna City, huh? I know that place - From Hearthome it's through Mt. Coronet and then a bit down the road, right?

Actually I don't have Pokemon, if you discount the store ones anyhow. I used to be a trainer, but not anymore.

Yeah it's on the main drag in Eterna. It's a nice place, the 24 hour mart. Business is kind of slow lately though.

Oh, yeah? Any reason for that change a' career?

I know what a pain slow business can be. Tell ya what, when I make it to Eterna, I'll pay ya a visit.

Well, I needed a little bit of change of scenery, and Doctor Aki was nice enough to keep me on as a former student. Got a leg injury during that time and, well, wanted a slower pace in life.

Hey thanks, that'd be a great thing then. Get me out of this place once in a while.

I see - Jus' about the opposite of what I'm doin'. Who's Doctor Aki, an' is he doin' alright?

No problem. I'll be happy t'do it.

He's my former mentor, back in the Johto region. I grew up in New Bark, and he used to work with Professor Elm. He's an independent researcher now, and used to work for Silph Co.

Great. This place is quiet, even with trainers coming in all the time.

Jhoto, huh? Tha's way far off. I've barely ever left Hearthome before...

Researcher, huh? That sounds pretty cool.

[a little chuckle] Well, I can't promise I'll really change that, but I'd be glad to give you some company.

Back in the day I was pretty well traveled. Though I wasn't too good at the whole trainer thing, but I managed to pull some wins here and there.

Yeah, he's mostly into the technologies that sustain our way of life, Pokemon Transporters, new types of Pokeballs... I got a direct line from his company, Pokemon Corp actually, so I get some of the newest gear in.

Well hey, better than wasting away and everything right? It's always the same in same out.

I'm not much of a traveler or a trainer. But I plan on changin' all that. You wait an' see.

Ha! Well, aren't you the lucky one, then? Bet that comes in handy.

Sure is! Sometimes ya just need things to change, right?

Good luck with that! The life of a trainer is pretty hard on the unprepared. Most people wind up dropping out by their teenage years. I know it took me a while to stop myself.

It does, considering what a small mart we are. Saves on the bills and I get to talk to Doctor Aki every so often, see how things are going back home.

Yeah. Sometimes I wonder if I should go back but with my bad leg and all...

Well, I'm startin' pretty late in the game, but who knows? Maybe tha'll give me an advantadge.

Tha's great! Bein' in touch with people you care about... An' it never hurts to save some money! [a laugh]

I can see where that would cause a problem...

Yeah, life experience helps a lot. Really, letting kids go out at 10.

Heh, considering the wage I get for getting this place on its feet after I moved here, it's worth saving a penny or two.

Yeah. I mean, I can still walk but it'll slow me down on the road. Maybe if I get a bike.

That's true. It is a pretty young age for kids t'be on their own, huh?

Tell me about it. Sometimes you can put in all the work in th' world, and it's just about for nothin'.

A bike? I don't know, wouldn't the pedalin' be a pain?

Yeah. You'd think at least they'd have to be accompanied by an older trainer or something to keep them out of trouble.

I'm sure though with time, and a little luck it'll work out.

Oh I meant a motorcycle. Sorry, used to calling it a bike.

Mmm. Y'know, that's not a bad idea.

For both our sakes, I sure hope so. Actually, hope has nothin' to do with it. I know it will.

Oh, tha' makes a lot more sense! Sounds like it could help a lot - You'd be faster than the uninjured trainers who'd be goin' on foot.
