After the frighting Sues we've had the past couple of days, I thought it might be time for a nice tame one.
TITLE:
Brian's Journey PERPETRATOR:
Umbreon's Shadow SUE-O-METER: (Okay)
FULL NAME: Brian
SPECIES: Human
HAIR: Brown Hair.
EYES: Blue
MARKINGS: None described
POSSESSIONS: “He walked over to his dresser and changed into a white long sleeve shirt, and put a black t-shirt on over that, then he put on some blue jeans, and finally his socks and shoes.” A brand new starter Eevee that can use Iron Tail.
ORIGIN: Pallet Town.
CONNECTION TO CANON: Battles Misty and Professor Oak. I THINK Ash makes an appearance. What I read was unclear on this.
SPECIAL ABILITIES: None as far as I can tell.
NOTES: There is a character in this fic named Ashely. She is often referred to as “Ash” which confused me greatly. Also, the Team Rocket in this has the names of John, Wilkes and Booth. I know that the dub names for Team Rocket are outlaws, Jessie and James, Butch and Cassidy. But John, Wilkes and Booth just don’t seem quite right. I give props to the author for trying to keep the tradition going though.
Excerpt:
Brian opened his blue eyes, yawned, and looked at his clock. It was eight twenty-two. He scratched his brown hair and smiled. Today was the day, the day his journey would begin! He walked over to his dresser and changed into a white long sleeve shirt, and put a black t-shirt on over that, then he put on some blue jeans, and finally his socks and shoes.
"Alright…" He sighed. Brian picked up his green and blue colored backpack and swung it over his shoulder. Then, he turned to face his room. The blue walls, the computer on the desk, the TV, and the dresser. Brian's final look around the room for a while. "Here we go…" Brian smiled. Everything was going to be better though. He was going to get a Pokemon, and he was going to go on a journey.
"Brian!" Mom shouted. Brian walked downstairs and ate some breakfast. He smiled to his mom, who was smiling. "I can't believe you're going on an adventure already…" She said.
"Already? Mom, I've had to wait three years!" Brian explained. The thing was, the Professor had to travel all around Kanto, to all the cities to give out Pokemon to trainers in other places. It wasn't fair for the Professor to stay in one place… at least that's what the Pokemon League thought. And finally he was returning, after being gone for three years. He had left right about two months before Brian's tenth birthday.
"Well, you better be going before he starts moving again!" His mom laughed. Brian rolled her eyes at her lame attempt at a joke. He said goodbye, and went outside. He had said goodbye to his dad the night before, as his dad goes to work at six AM. The laboratory was big, but Brian had been in many times before. It had gotten really dirty since Oak had left… Brian peered inside, and saw it was very different. The floors were shining, the Spinarak webs were all gone, (while the Spinarak were in glass cases now) and finally the machines were running again.
"Professor?" Brian asked confused. He saw a young man looking at a list.
"Yes sir?" He replied.
"Are you professor Oak?" Brian asked with a strange look.
"Yes." The man smiled.
"I thought he was… old." Brian complained.
"Oh no, that was my grandfather. He retired in Sinnoh last year." The new Professor Oak said. "His name was Sam, my name is Gary."
"Oh…" Brian said a little confused still.
"Well, I guess you want a Pokemon?" Gary asked looking down at him. (Gary was pretty tall)
"Yes." Brian replied.
"Okay, let's see…" Gary sighed. He searched around under tables and under papers. "Um…"
"You do have one right?" Brian asked.
"I-I think so…" He stuttered. "Aha!" He pulled one out of a box. "We just got the shipment from the Pokemon Daycare."
"Daycare?" Brian asked tilting his head.
"Yes. Some Trainers leave their eggs with the Daycare Couple and they hatch them and send them to the professors." Gary explained.
"Oh. Cool." Brian replied peering at the box.
"Here you go, and a Pokedex too." Gary smiled. "Be careful though, these Pokemon are just barely old enough to battle."
"Okay." Brian replied anxiously snagging the Pokeball and Pokedex from Gary. "See you later!" Brian ran outside and threw the Pokeball forward. Out popped a small Eevee.
"Veevee!" It squealed happily.
"Wow!" Brian said.
"Eevee!" It squeaked at Brian. It made an annoyed sound,
"Huh? Oh right…" He grabbed some PokeChow and fed it to the Eevee. "Here you go…" He smiled. It gobbled it up happily, squeaking when finished. "So, I think I'll name you Jay." Brian said. The Eevee was a boy. Jay squeaked in reply and Brian rubbed Jay from his head down his back to his tail. Jay purred softly, and curled up quietly. Brian picked him up gently and held him. Then he returned it to it's Pokeball and walked home.
"Hey Brian," His mom said as he slipped inside.
"Hi." Brian replied. She made him lunch, then he showed her his Pokemon. "Ready?" Brian asked, pulling out the Pokeball.
"Yes." His mother replied with a smile.
"Pokeball go!" He shouted as he threw it out. The small Eevee appeared, seemingly tired.
"Vee?" He questioned tilting his head at Brian.
"This is Jay." Brian told his mother. "He's my Eevee."
"How cute!" She reached down to pet him, and Jay squeaked unhappily.
"Oh, I guess he's scared of you." Brian said before reaching down to scratch behind his ears.
"Oh dear, I guess so." His mother sighed.
"Return!" He ordered the Pokemon, Jay was sucked right back into his Pokeball. "Well, I guess I'll get going."
"Okay." She replied sadly.
"See ya later!" Brian said.
"Don't stay up too late!" She shouted as he left. Brian rolled his eyes. How would she know if he did anyways? Brian laughed and walked off. He entered the road at the end of Pallet Town that led to Viridian. He smiled and set out.
