Which is better??

Hi everyone! I'm a new member to the community who just recently got re-hooked to the Pokemon video games. (I restarted the Sapphire version for the 10-millionth time. XD)

At any rate, my birthday is coming up, and I was looking forward to buying a DS and Pokemon Diamond and/or Pearl. But after looking into the game, I came upon an interesting conclusion...it didn't really look very good. I mean, graphic wise, it's appealing, but the DS costs quite a bit and the new Pokemon for Sinnoh just don't have the same appeal as the rest of the Pokemon did.

So, my major question lies under this ol' LJ cut, because it has a big list and stuff.

So after scanning through Diamond and Pearl and furthering my decision that I don't want to buy it, I went to Pokemon.com to check out what other games there were. And that led me to this argument: which would make a better present and a more interesting game?

For Nintendo DS, the largest system I have (YES I don't have a Playstation/Gamecube/XBOX/Nintendo, please don't laugh. XD), there's Fire-Red, Leaf-Green, and Emerald, all of which I don't have. I like FR and LG because it takes you back to Kanto (YAY golden oldie!), plus you can integrate it with Ruby and Sapphire. I don't really think Emerald sounds that exciting, because aside from being able to have both Latios and Latias and encountering Rayquaza, it's basically Ruby and Sapphire all over again. And after re-doing the entire Sapphire game, I'm looking for something new. :)

Then there's Gale of Darkness for the Nintendo Gamecube system. Obviously, this would be most expensive since I'd need to buy a Gamecube (as well as a new TV, since my mother adamently refuses to hook something up to our main TV), but it has everything I'm looking for; it features all the Pokemon from Johto and Kanto (including my favorite, Lugia!), you start out with Eevee (YES!) and the graphics are quite something. On the other hand, not that many games are compatible with the Gamecube (i.e. Kingdom Hearts, which I desperately want), so therefore I don't want to waste my money on only one game that I'll probably beat in a short timespan.

I want to spend my money wisely, and I want to have a good game experience. So, which games do you guys prefer?
1. Fire-Red/Leaf-Green
2. Emerald
3. Gale of Darkness

Any help is greatly appreciated!
