Mostly new TCG player here, need deck building help!
So I need some help building a current deck? :D
I've collected the cards off and on, but I'm mostly new to the game as it is now. I played back when WotC owned it (I know, I go way back) and I've pretty much forgotten most of that anyhow so I'm more or less a fresh player again. Since I've been collecting the cards I have a nice amount from HGSS-on to build a deck from but I really have no idea where to start!
I feel a bit overwhelmed I guess and a little lost. The game has changed a lot it seems. The PTCGO has been a godsend in learning how to play again, but I'm using cards there I don't necessarily have in real life.
I guess what I'm asking is for a little hand holding here in building a deck from what I got.
My card list didn't paste well into here (it was also quite long, 200+ lines) so I put it on Google Docs for easy viewing. It's already sorted by type. And I've only included my HGSS-on cards.

And as far as energy goes I have the following:
6 x Fighting
6 x Darkness
12 x Water
18 x Electric
16 x Grass
40 x Fire
1 x Double Colorless Energy
1 x Rescue Energy
2 x Prism Energy
I'm open to any ideas, stories, tips, suggestions, whatever. I could buy more cards (like cheap things such as energy) but I'd really like to make something from what I have right now so I can hopefully play with some people at an event tomorrow.
