Pokemon Black Question

I haven't finished the main storyline yet, but I'm curious about something I read regarding Black City.

The Official Guide says "The number of people living here is determined by the number of days it took you to reach the city from starting Pokemon Black version." Bulbapedia says this also.

But I can't even tell if they mean more days=more people or more days=fewer people. (It will make a difference to me, as I'll try to finish it faster or slower depending.) And they definitely aren't giving a number of days.

I know you can invite new people in using Entralink but unfortunately I don't know anyone else who plays Pokemon to meet with face-to-face and do Entralink. (Which is a shame because it sounds fun, but oh well.) Is not being able to use Entralink going to make Black City pointless to me?

Not a huge deal and I'm certainly enjoying the game anyway, but I'm wondering about this.

I did use Google to look this up but didn't find what I was looking for.

Also... does anyone else think the "fodder" Pokemon you run into all the time in this gen are cuter than in past gens? I think Lillipup and Pidove are actually very cute. Patrat not as much, but still cuter than a Rattata. Not that cute is the most important thing, but still.
