The Fire Monotype Team!

Jan 10, 2008 23:12

You saw the Grass-type team, now let me try my hand at a Fire-type squadron. A little more limited in what it can do, but Fire's still a boss type to work with. Once again, haven't raised these Pokés yet, but it's how I'm going to:

I'm using Ninetails, Charizard, and Houndoom in some other teams of mine. :X

I still don't get how EVs work well. I feel super dumb.

It's a little complicated, but I can try to explain them for you.

Basically, they're invisible stat building points that come from beating certain Pokés. For every four EVs you earn in a certain stat area, you get 1 extra point in that stat at level 100. The most total EVs you can get is 510, and the most you can get in one stat is 255, but it always rounds the stat points down, so trainers only get 252 to max out a certain stat.

An example is if you wanted to give your Alakazam a boost in Special Attack. You'd take it to the Old Chateau in D/P or Pokémon Tower in FR/LG and whomp on Gastlies and Haunters. They each yield EVs in SpAtk. Gastly yields one EV in SpAtk, and Haunter 2. Does that help any?

I think so. How can you tell if you're getting them or keep track, though? :O
And it doesn't have to be the same type in a row or something? I thought that's what i read, but I probably misunderstood it. Like woah.

All about EVs pony_meat January 11 2008, 06:11:41 UTC
Whenever you defeat a Pokemon your Pokemon gains X EVs, where X is a predetermined number based on the Pokemon you defeated (you can find a list of which Pokemon give which EVs by using Google). For example, for every Zubat you defeat you get +1 Speed EV. For every four EVs in a stat your Pokemon gains 1 in that stat at level 100. The max number of EVs a Pokemon can have is 510, but they can only have 255 in each stat. Therefore, by battling Pokemon to gain EVs, you can concentrate your strengths in a particular areas.

The Power Items, Macho Brace, and Pokerus can speed up the EV process. You'll need to be responsible for tracking your Pokemon's EVs.

Roar for BURNAGE. Basically, I'd use WoW on the first Poké, then Roar him out, bringing out another one. WoW on that one, Roar... rinse and repeat until every one of the other guy's team members are burned.

roar is really good because you can remove their swords dance and render cmers useless. i like timid jolteon as a starter with roar/baton pass/thunderbolt/thunder wave - soooooo tech haha

Might I recommend a Torkoal? Stealth Rock is going to be a massive problem with a mono-Fire team, so a Rapid Spinner would really help. Also, perhaps an Infernape with Grass Knot. Having a Grass attack that you can use without having to set up Sunny Day could be an unpleasant surprise for your opponent.

HP is too high maintenence unless you're using an Internet battling program that lets you program your own IVs.
