Dear dad and sis,
It's been a while, huh? I guess I should write more often. I haven't written a single letter home since I got to this place, after all. That's almost two months! Well, sure, I call you guys sometimes, but we have to keep the calls short so that the phone bill isn't huge. Since we can't talk long on the phone, I'll write letters instead.
It's taken a while, but I think I'm getting used to life in this country. It's really difficult to talk in Japanese all the time, though. It's even harder at school, since I can't read Kanji (the symbols that are words here) too well. None of my classmates suspect anything yet, but I know I can't keep asking them to read stuff for me. And it takes forever to do my homework, too, since I have to keep looking up the right words. I think I'm going to ask the teachers if I can write in hiragana (the other symbols that are words) when I don't know the Kanji, just so that it doesn't take me hours to do my homework anymore. Then maybe I can join a club or something.
I've made a few friends here. I'm not really close to any of them yet, but at least we all get along. Some people here are annoying, though, especially some of the older students. They always mistake me for a middle school kid. Dad, did you have these problems when you were in school?
It's kind of lonely here, though. I miss you guys, and I miss my friends from home. Tell them that I said 'hi', okay? Also, I haven't made up my mind on the stuff we talked about before I left. I'll give it until the summer break, and then I'll decide. Then I can jump right into my junior year if I do decide to go home. I'll wait and see, though. I haven't found what I'm looking for, so I might stay longer to see if I can find it.
Hmm...I think that's everything. It's a good place to stop, too, since I'm almost out of room on this page of paper.
((OOC: Ray's sitting on a couch and writing a letter home. The letter is written in English, so if your character can understand English feel free to have them read over his shoulder/ comment on it.))
