I meant to post this like a week ago I MEAN ~EVENT: MAILBOXES~ or something
[This morning, as the islanders go about their daily routine, they might notice something by their homes that wasn't there before. Whether you live in a cave, or a camp, or a house, or whatever else...there is now a mailbox outside, mounted on a post stuck into the ground.
Seems pretty legit.
Poke at it a bit, and the work of the island becomes apparent - you can't uproot, dent, or otherwise damage it in any way. Also, the mailbox is a whole lot bigger on the inside than it is on the outside. You could stick your whole arm in there...but it still looks like your average mailbox interior...?
...Anyways, there is a mailbox. There's also a dropbox with a similarly limitless interior stuck somewhere near the middle of the CMA, for those who want to send letters and parcels anonymously.
A certain mail carrier is rather pleased about all this, now that she has something to do, and she and Thunderbee can be found all over the island throughout the day, helping the island with this shiny new thing.]
((OOC: Got this approved by Vycksta, and here it is: mail service! As of today, all residents now have a mailbox and can send and receive all manner of objects and messages this way. This is a completely IC system - use it as a plot device to have your characters meet up, to tag a post with a letter or gift when a character wouldn't go to the house in person, to handwave knowledge exchange or item gets if you haven't had time for a log...so on and so forth. It can always be assumed that a delivery will get to the recipient within the same day, whether via Gevri or any other messenger-type characters that show up or the island itself working its magic.
As for this post: does anyone remember that one mail meme that we did way back when...? It might've been about a year ago, so there's a lot of people here that wouldn't have gotten to join in. This post is Return of Mail Meme: Canon Edition. Tag around, send things to one another, wear out the Flygon by spamming this shit like IM, anonymously gift a friend or prank an enemy...but this time, it's all for real. EDIT TO CLARIFY HOW THE EVENT WORKS: Post your character checking out the mailbox, then tag other people's comments to tell them what they got. Deliveries can be intentional with a return address, intentional and unmarked, accidental due to bad handwriting or the wrong address, accidental due to being a random item dropped into the box without an address (dem Pecha Berries >8|), so on. Have at!
Alternately, if you want to chat up Gevri or ask your housemates who put a mailbox out front, that's all good too. not as funny though))
