[Cyrus had been expecting the recruits eventually; he's somehow unsurprised when the boy is the first.
And damn, is he happy to see him.
He's managed to work on tempering the urge to just...hug the world, and he's been somewhat successful in the attempt; at the very least, he can keep himself from lunging at this point. He still smiles when he sees him, and the expression is...kind of overenthusiastic, but he manages to keep most of the irrational exuberance in check.]
[He does seem a bit off-put; the initial reaction is usually the hardest to quell, and the longer Cyrus looks at the boy, the more he's able to calm himself down somewhat.]
You will disregard any odd behavior on my part. One of the wishes made after the conclusion of the spell battles...it seems to have had a bit of an unfortunate effect.
[He manages to refrain from asking if he worried the kid. Or if he's all right. Is he all right? He doesn't look all right. But then he almost never does - maybe he should check...
...for now Cyrus thinks he'll just concentrate on keeping his expression even.]
...there are some things that I must discuss with you alone, regarding your particular circumstances. There is a room in the back...you will accompany me there, that we might discuss these matters away from the others.
[The room in question is accessible through a door further in the room, situated along the left wall; he gestures to it now, clearly indicating that Lucas should move in that direction.
The room it leads to is relatively nondescript, though if the desk in the center and the shelves along the walls are any indication, it was intended to be used as an office or study; however, the shelves are unoccupied, and the desk has something draped over it, covering what would normally be visible surface, as well as a few somewhat flat but unnaturally-shaped things beneath it.]
[Cyrus closes the door behind them, and he doesn't stay near the entrance; he moves to stand behind the desk, resting his hands lightly against the top of it, studying Lucas for a moment before he speaks. Controlling himself is still proving a bit difficult, but he's managing well enough; his expression is obviously deliberately blank, but some things can't be helped.]
At the start of this endeavor you were informed that your circumstances are unlike the rest...that once you agreed to assist in the creation of the new world, you were not allowed to rescind on this agreement. In return for your participation, you would be granted the removal of those memories that cause you such pain...
I assume that you have considered these terms since they were made...I understand that the decision is not one that should be made lightly, and yet you did so in a short period of time. As such, the presence of doubt is both expected and understandable.

After a brief moment of confusion, he seems to settle on being gently dismissive.]
...I see no need for you to apologize.
