It's such a short time into his...tenure here. It's been, what, a few weeks? And apparently the island doesn't waste time in defying belief; it's made that plain already. It's provided some things that are useful; for example, he appreciates the jacket, though he can't tell if it's a new one or the old one was repaired

[[Having wandered away from the battles for a little while (if only for some peace and quiet), Archie is quite surprised and somewhat alarmed to see what he recognizes as the crazy version of Maxie. However, three things jump out at him.

1. He has a knife.

2. He...he has ears.

3. He's trying to use the knife to remove the ears.

...to approach, or not to approach...

...oh hell, he has to try and get his rep back up with the guy after their last encounter.]]

Maxie doesn't answer right away. Settles for glowering. At the same time, Archie doesn't have them - presumably he knows.]

[[Cynthia had been walking with Giovanni when she noticed that rather strange redheaded man sitting by himself. The second thing she noticed was that he was sporting a rather lovely set of ears, with a matching tail. It was enough to make her pause, but while she's surprised, at the same time, she's...she's really not.

However, that's when she notices the knife heading right for those ears.

No, Maxie, don't! That's not how you remove them!

[[She'll be running up and grabbing at that hand with the knife in it, now. Because she's smart like that.]]

[my, that had been a particularly engaging... noodle incident of a conversation. Of course, it would end with them catching sight of someone trying to cut their animal ears off with a knife.

It's probably good for her that she's startled him into dropping the knife. Better that it manages to not really hit anything on the way down, aside from the flat of the blade bouncing pointlessly off his shoulder as the thing falls.

He ignores it entirely in favor of wrenching his hand out of her grasp, though he doesn't move for it. She hasn't warranted anything quite yet, and Giovanni probably wouldn't allow that to get very far, anyway. And he knows better than to continue trying to hack at the damn ears while these two are here.

...of course, once he sees who's with her he smirks. More than a bit. He aims his words at Cynthia, though.]

And here I thought you disliked criminal activity, Cynthia.

[[Oh, she's more than happy to let him pull his hand free; as long as the knife is out of the way, she doesn't care. Subtly, she places her shoe over it, before...looking at him quite curiously.]]

I'd hardly call this criminal activity, Maxie. You're just being rash, that's all.

[He pauses at the voice. It's unfamiliar - not necessarily very important. At the same time, not acknowledging may encourage action, and he doesn't want her coming any closer.

He looks up, though he doesn't lower his hands from where he was about to make another attempt, keeping the blade positioned near his head.

He can still move quickly if he needs to. He's right-handed; it's the left that's been giving him issues, thanks to Adamo.]

And what do you want?

[So he imagines. He's seen people without, and they weren't all bleeding from the head.]

Perhaps not how you're supposed to. But either way, it works.

He's going to stop for now. Stare for a bit. This...isn't right, somehow.

That knife is suddenly away from his head and lowered to about chest-level, though it's in a very, very defensive position. He remains silent, his gaze wary.

[Oh, look who's nearby. It's an Adamo sporting black cat ears and a black cat tail! He just stands there for a moment, watching, before he finally says something.]

...Can I use that when you're done?

[Maxie tenses up a bit at the sound of the voice; he remembers it well. It's the voice of Groudon; how could he forget? Not to mention that the left side of his body isn't...exactly as well-off as he'd like due to those burns. He isn't the sort to treat them, after all.

At the same time, he pauses what he's doing and looks up. Smiles when he sees him. It's not exactly a nice smile.]

For the same purpose, I assume?

Yeah.

[He feels awkward asking Maxie out of all people, especially this one, but hey, he hasn't found anyone else with a knife. And Adamo's feeling somewhat generous today; he'll even help Maxie cut those hideous things off if he's too chicken to do it himself.]

[Maxie's thoughts are headed in a similar direction, though not for the same reason.]

It would be more precise if someone did it for you, you know. You can't exactly see what you're doing.
