 [It's a rare sight - Ash lounging around in the CMA, reading a book. And he's not throwing it around in frustration this time either. Once the novelty of the idea wears off, you'll probably notice how fidgety he looks and the way he keeps glancing to the sky before turning his attention back to his book.

His Pikachu is a little bit better at hiding

Elliot notices this and comes wandering up, frowning a bit.]

Ash? What's going on?

Hm...?

[Ash raises his head and gives a little shrug. He pokes the book, a grumpy look crossing his face]

Nothing much. This book is just giving me a little headache. Didn't realize that I forgot so much of it already

[And he was telling the truth there. It just wasn't all that was wrong with him. He'll tell the rest eventually...he just can't figure out a way to explain it properly yet]

[...that's not the vibe I was getting, buddy. I'll see if I can surreptitiously grill you for an explanation later.

Elliot peers at the book, reading a few inches down the page.]

Ah.

[He gets it. And glances down at his own hand - only three fingers...

There had to be some number of the signs he could still make. Elliot looks back at the book, curious.]

[If Elliot listens closely, he may be able to hear Swellow and Pikachu muttering to each other about "blue haired men", "Zapdos" and "how hard can it be to find them". Judging by Swellow's expression? Very hard.

Ash grins and flips to another page where there are signs where five fingers are not needed.]

I don't think I'll ever be able to use it here but I figured I might as well learn it properly just in case.

[I sense a strange presence! Ash raises his head.
...oh, it's just someone looking at my pokemon.

Well, well. If it isn't Ash Ketchum! I gotta say, I didn't think I'd see you look beat up like this. [ A Glaceon gets up on Ash's table and pokes at his hat to get his attention. ]

[Ash startles a little, snapping to attention.

H-huh? Ash gives a puzzled frown, staring at the Glaceon before staring at Candice.

He grabs his note book before writing a quick message.

'Have we met before?']

[ Confused and blinks a little. She's relatively new to the island so it finally hits her that he might be a different Ash Ketchum. ] We might have, if you've been to Sinnoh before and gotten far enough. I don't remember you being so quiet.

[ Glaceon jumps down back to Candice and tilts its head a little. ]

[Ooh.

[there's a Mudkip running up to you and snuggling up to your side. A few minutes later her trainer'll appear and pick her back up.]

Sorry 'bout that. [wait, is that him with a book?]

[Ash blinks and gives a silent little laugh as he pets Mudkip on the head.

He then nods and pushes the book over - the page is filled with a chart of numerous signs and little rules associated with them underneath.]

[Continuing the petting~ but Pikachu has jumped down from the table to see if Mudkip wants to join them in their ~adventure~
