[Her absence had been noticed; given their living situation, it was difficult for her absence to not be noticed, regardless of how much he insisted on being left alone.
A few moments had passed in which Cyrus wasn't certain where to start when it came to locating her - in the end, she usually sought him out, not the other way around - and normally he would have left well enough alone; regardless, their last few interactions had been strained at points, and dissension was simply not acceptable.
...at the same time, he hadn't expected what he had ended up finding once he had finally located her.
He had recognized the Crobat's silhouette immediately; he was familiar enough with the species to have no trouble in that regard. He had watched its path in silence, unsure of what, exactly, Jupiter was doing at that height; when she had been released, he continued to watch impassively, though he could feel his pace pick up at the sight of it - and asinine though it was, he had found himself noting that his body still recognized the sight of a threat, even though he felt no fear or concern toward her safety.
Logic dictates that it's either some sort of bizarre exercise or a suicide; either way, he is under no obligation to stop her. He doesn't remain where he is, instead moving toward wherever it is she'll end up landing; if it's an exercise, an explanation is required, and if it's a suicide...if she is truly that imperfect, perhaps she's better off not being saved.]
[Near the spot where Jupiter is about to land, there's a large tree branch. She's about to fall past it, when she grabs onto it and nimbly pushes herself up to sit on it. Her Crobat reaches her shortly afterwards, hovering by her side. As soon as she sees her leader standing below, she smiles.]
Good evening, sir. What are you doing out here, if I may ask?
[His expression doesn't flicker when he sees that she's still in one piece, as opposed to broken into several on the ground; at the same time, it's certainly preferable to having to deal with the body.]
...I believe the same question could be asked of you.
...you're speaking for me...it's a practice I suggest you abandon.
Useful though it may be, it remains reckless without precautions...I was simply asking whether this is something you've put thought into, or whether this is a whim of yours.
[He doesn't answer her right away, though he doesn't shy away from her eye contact, either; his gaze remains on her, scrutinizing, studying her in silence as he considers her words.
He had never really gotten to know Jupiter, just as he had never been very close to any of his commanders, always preoccupied with plans and goals and thoughts of his new world; since arriving on this island he had been made increasingly aware that in the end, he knew very little about her - not necessarily as his commander, as she was certainly efficient enough and he had come to know her patterns and what missions she would be suited for, but rather as a person. He had no idea how she occupied her time, what she thought about certain things, what her life had been like before she had joined him.
He's also aware that, in the end, it's better that way; he had never felt a genuine connection to this world or its people, and he doesn't feel a connection to her now - not to mention that whether he ever would have wanted to is a moot point, considering it's not a possibility anymore. The realization, then, is processed as everything else is nowadays - it's a fact he didn't know about her. Now he does. The information will be utilized henceforth.
And that, in the end, is all.
No remorse for this fact is present when he speaks - his tone remains even, calm, and though he's learned by now to temper some of the blunted quality to his voice, a cold undercurrent still flows beneath his words.]
...that's fine.
I simply implore that you not be...overly reckless about it.
I understand that the events that occurred at Mount Coronet in the universe you're from were... significantly different from what I've lived. Excuse my memory, but... would you please run them by me one more time?
[His eyes slide closed for a moment as he begins to recall - as unstable though his memory is beginning to prove in certain regards, he can still remember this in all its sharp, clear entirety, and that time at Mt. Coronet's summit is just as easily recalled as the moment he had seen Jupiter fall moments ago.]
The creation of the Red Chains progressed as planned...both the chain created through usage of the Lake Guardians and the replica were both functional and complete. The child that had been causing such a disturbance at the lakes and the Windworks attempted to interrupt by infiltrating headquarters...they engaged me in battle and defeated me fairly, but it was merely a temporary distraction. I left them there, traveling onward to Mount Coronet as planned.
Despite another attempt at interference from that child, the summoning on Spear Pillar proceeded as was intended...I was able to call forth and ensnare both Dialga and Palkia. The Lake Guardians attempted interference as well...however, as both of the deities were under my possession and control, they were incapable of having much effect...
And yet before the new world could come into being, another being made its presence known...a third mythical being, Giratina, whose presence has been almost entirely removed from our legends...existing mostly in shadows in this world, it was banished to another dimension long ago. And it was to this other dimension that I was taken. It can be assumed that the Red Chains were broken in the process...Dialga and Palkia were no longer under my command.
With all of these factors taken into account, this is why the attempt at Spear Pillar was a failure...does that answer your question?
[His gaze sharpens slightly, as though trying to ascertain the reason behind the question, but he answers nonetheless, his tone blank.]
It wasn't like anything possible in this world...the difference was almost tangible. There was no flow of time or expansion of space...no genuine life or adherence to the laws of physics or gravity...
At first I couldn't be certain where Giratina had gone...it had seemed content to interfere and then abandon me near where it had entered. It became clear to me that this mythical being could alter and destroy the very fabric of the world we currently inhabit...though the Red Chains had been decimated and could not be remade, that Pokémon would ensure that the new world could come into being regardless.
However, the child saw fit to follow me, straight to Giratina itself...not alone this time, but with the Champion as well. After that last act of defiance, in which the child quelled Giratina's rage and destroyed any possibility of the new world becoming a reality...they both returned to this world.

I'm exercising, sir.

And when did you decide to take up this...particular regimen?

So you don't like it, sir...? I believe it could be useful.

... I'm... surprised you didn't know.

I appreciate your concern. But what you just saw is nothing compared to what I can do, sir.
Oh. And there's something I wanted to talk to you about. Something that I want to shed some light on before we move on with our mission.

I'd like you to tell me more about the dimension you were taken to. What happened there?

[Her questions come out fluently, her delivery even. It's almost as if she had planned those exact same questions a long time ago.]
