[In the middle of a forest, where he believes no one can see him is the little Giovanni. Having hung out with Ash he had decided the Pikachu-Wielding Pokemon trainer knows what he is talking about. Thus, he is going to try and build up the confidence to announce what Pokemon he had just caught, and present the Pokeball.
After all, Ash has done a lot Pokemon-wise so he must be right.
Even if it looks like that Bidoof over there is laughing at Giovanni, even if he did manage to catch one. It is laughing very, very, very hard at him. Not that he cares because he must look awesome while doing this.]
