Maxie doesn't seem bothered by the gathering storm or the force of the wind in his hair, the long red locks whipping about his face; his thoughts, instead, are given to volcanic activity and the heartbeat of the earth, the feeling of the land's power rushing through his body, the soft glow of the Red Orb in his hands...for a moment he simply experiences, standing so still it's unnatural, the only exception being the deep breaths he's drawing.
He doesn't look at Archie, even after the other man speaks. This place has been good to them; it's almost been fun, playing those stupid games of theirs during their stay here. Perhaps he'll do Archie the courtesy of missing him after he's been killed.
Realistically speaking, though? Probably not.]
...let's.
[He allows himself another brief moment before turning to his rival, a smirk across his features and that strange, soft shining present in his eyes.]
[[Archie just grins in response, the glow of the orb reflecting in his eyes.]]
Only if you do me the same, Maxie.
[[He holds the blue orb up to the sky, then, feeling it's power pulsing through his body. The glow intensifies, as does the energy, until it feels like he's holding a piece of ice in his hand, but it's so cold that it burns.
[Maxie doesn't say anything; he simply nods in response, his eyes sliding closed for a moment as the power from the orb seems to intensify, sending sharp tremors through his body.
It's familiar - he can feel it coursing through his system, molten and burning itself into his body through the artifact in his hand, and even though it's been so long since he's felt it like this, so...completely, this feels...right, somehow. As it was once. Would be again. As it should be.
And before he can really stop himself he's laughing, mirroring his rival's actions and forcing that orb skywards; the sound rips out of him, harsh and manic and alive.]
[ And suddenly, there is this undeniable pull that a Kyogre experiences. It's something that Kyla thinks she will never have words to properly describe... not that she can think straight at the moment anyway. Her entire being wants to move, toward wherever the pull is coming from, and so she moves.
It takes her a bit to reach the volcano (living on Hayo's little island has its advantages and disadvantages) but she's there as quickly as she can manage it. ]
[The pull takes Terra by surprise; even if she'd have been able to resist it (doubtful), it overwhelms her too quickly to do anything but follow. She's felt it before, of course, but with the power fogging her mind it's hard to form the idea of where, much less do anything about it.
She's much closer than Kyla, and so she arrives more quickly, moving to stand beside Maxie, her eyes fixed on the orb in his hand.]
[[The orb is practically vibrating by the time Archie hears Kyogre approach. Maxie had been right about the legendary pokemon taking the form of humans, and that's what he had been depending on. The young girl standing before him does surprise him somewhat; to think that such a frail body could contain so much power...the thought is intoxicating.
He holds the orb out to her, and smiles darkly, his eyes locked on hers.]]
Come to me, Kyogre. Show me your true form, and we shall change this world.
[Maxie has definitely encountered Terra before, though the memory of the last time they had spoken is...hazy, for him. That...place, the town, with the noise and the darkness and things that he really only recalls in splinters and fractures, when he recalls any of it at all. But he definitely remembers her, and what she really is, and the feeling of her power flowing through the orb and flooding his system...it's almost overwhelming.
Almost.
For a moment, he's tempted to reach out to touch, now that she's so close; ultimately, he doesn't. He laughs again, his voice running dark with a sharp, snarling undertone.]
Why don't we stop the pretense, hm? Surely you can feel the heightened energy of the land, the blood of the earth flowing beneath us. Reveal yourself for what you really are, show me your power!
[ True... form? Something tells her that shouldn't be possible for her. She's different. Not simply a legendary blessed with a human form, but a human fused with a legendary with science.
And, yet... ] Yes... [ She replies hollowly as she feels her body change for the first time. It's very unnatural to her, but somehow it feels right.
Soon enough, in the place of the blue haired girl is a rather large whale. ]
[She doesn't seem to hesitate at all - or bother to respond. Her eyes flash yellow, just for a moment, before her body flashes with sunlight. It might just be possible to make out her outline as it expands.
The earth seems to tremble a little as a golden-scaled Groudon towers over Maxie.]
Holding the orb out, Archie walks towards Kyogre. Even as he approaches, he starts feeling the energy seeping into his body. It's almost as if the orb is...melting...into his skin....lines of blue light bursting along his body, he....
...it's so familiar....so welcome...he starts growling, but the sound is pleased, aggressive....]]
[For a strange, uncomfortable moment, Maxie is almost too aware of everything that's happening - the sharp burn from the orb, his blood searing him from the inside as it forces its way through his body, the harsh sounds emanating from the man beside him; he's aware of the motion as his free hand finds the opposite wrist, clutching it tightly as though for support, and that's about the time when, suddenly, in a way that he can't explain, something shifts.
He can see the orb as it disappears, forcing itself into his flesh, but he's very aware of a distinct sense of distance from the process; it's happening to him, and he knows that, and somewhere in the back of his mind he also knows that he could stop this if he really wanted to - the will to actually do so, however, to do anything, simply isn't there. This isn't beyond his control, but rather beyond his willingness to control it; he isn't aware of moving his hand away from his wrist, and he barely notices as the left sleeve of his jacket rips away. His attention, instead, is focused

Try not to disappoint me too badly, Archie.
