Status report!
So, all hopes of getting it 100% finished this weekend are dashed. This house is HUGE compared to the last several years' endeavors. It'll take some doing to fill the place up - that's what we're focusing on for this weekend's labors.
Stuff's coming along well - we had some trouble baking the roof pieces, as they're really damn big. Like, full cookie sheet big. You see, if there's a single crack in the piece, then it's unusable. If it's too thin, it's unusable. If it's too thick, it's also unusable. And on top of that, we ended up deciding that we're going to have to rebake new roof pieces for Christmas Eve anyways - that's when we'll finish the house and put the roof on. With how humid it is here, anything that big will be pretty mushy by the time Christmas Eve arrives. (Taking bets on how long the house lasts after Christmas...)
The walls are up and glued in place, though, and my dad's made another garden. Not much more else to tell than that - everyone's been working on furnishings and furniture. This year's theme is a New England Autumn - we're hoping to do fallen leaves and all that, but we'll see.
As always, I'll keep you posted - we're working up till noon tomorrow, and then putting it aside till Christmas Eve.
Have a good night!
