Good Morning Everyone! First off, a big thank you to
londonesque and
elegant_vintage for the v-gifts! always makes me feel warm and flannel! I know I haven't updated as much as you might think after that last post, but I did finish the Complaint Free World book and am trying that 21-day challenge. I also finished Hush, Hush and A Night Without Armour by Jewel - I'm waiting for my order from Amazon now...*twiddles flannel thumbs*
A Complaint Free World
As my closer friends saw, this book had a huge impact on me. I am trying the 21-day challenge now, I re-started today because I think I wasn't counting some things as complaints and while I want to finish, if I cheat, what's the point?
There are four stages to the book - 1) realising you're complaining, 2)making a conscious effort to stop (by moving a wristband from one hand to the other) 3) putting a positive spin on things and being more can do than can't do and 4) truly believing it and living it. I'm somewhere between stages 2 and 3 :) I think they can overlap.
I think I'm just in the right place, mentally and emotionally, to do this. I'm tired of being unhappy and angry - I need to look at how great I have things, because I do. I look around and see so many people who are worse off than me and I shouldn't be complaining about things that don't matter. This is a must read when you've gotten to the end of your tether and need a change, this is a book you'll want to read.
Hush, Hush
I'm not really sure why my sister purchased this book and then passed it to me, but I had little else to read, so I picked it up. It was basically a rip off of Twilight, but worse. I'm not sure it's worth going into, I gave it 1 out of 5 stars on Shelfari. The story was barely readable, the author could have done so many things, but never really pulled the plot or characters together. It had potential, but fell flat pretty quickly!
A Night Without Armour
Most of you should know this about me, I adore Jewel, so this was a must-read for me. It's a book of poems and some were breathtaking and others not so much. Overall, an amazing read if you're in the right mood. I don't think a book of poems is a commuter book...which was how I read it. Her songs are amazing, her poems are as well. I'd say it's worth a read, and the Marketplace on Amazon has it listed at a penny, so you can't go wrong for that price :)
if anyone's interested,
this is me on Shelfari - if you want an invite...I think I know how to do that. It makes a good place for tracking books :)
okay, people, have a fab Thursday! And a Ramadan Mubarak to my Muslim friends who are fasting with me! PS - unrelated, I think I may have convinced my mom to buy me an X-box for my b-day :) I promise, the next post will be a movie review - I saw two movies last week, but that might be too much in one post ;)
