so i got a macbook and i am in love with its prettiness and features. it was my valentine's present. it is like jewelry that i can't wear.
al and i are planning on going to sxsw the last weekend of it because our spring break starts later this year. i wanted to reserve tiny room at the mansion at judge's hill but it was already bought up. so instead we are staying at star inn of austin? it is a b&b. i always feel so snobby staying at those but they end up being cheaper than hotels because they jack up prices for sxsw.
today al and i went on like a 2 hour walk. we walked to foster park then down the trail. we saw a cat and it let me pick it up and pet it. i am constantly wanting to live with every animal i see. it is a debilitating habit. sometimes i spend hours looking at petfinder.org and being sad that i can't adopt (have) every animal.
tales from school: one of the black teachers at our school has "black girl" lunches twice a week where the kids from the project come to her room and eat lunch. really just the black girls and they just gossip and whatnot. anyway, 3 of the girls came to me friday during lunch to tell me that there were white people in there and next week they wanted to eat lunch with me so it would be just the black girls. further more, the white girls they spoke of were actually all mexican when i asked them. they kept mentioning the fact that it used to be just black girls and there were too many white girls there. i thought this was really funny since i am a white teacher...i think it really comes down to being kids from the project instead of black kids...but it was sweet of them to include me, i guess.
tomorrow we have staff development but al has jury dooty. i should sleep.
