I saw The Princess and the Frog with some friends a while ago...

And it's really nice to see a Disney movie that has some decent songs again. I've missed the Disney songs.
And the movie reminds me a bit of The Little Mermaid.
Without going into (too much) spoilers, the one thing that really strikes me as similar (except for the overall theme of a fairytale lovestory in which people from two different "worlds" meet) is the magic ladies.
Both movies have a "magic lady" that the main character(s) are warned not to talk to, because they're scary and/or bad news.
In The Princess and the Frog it's a voodoo lady, and in The Little Mermaid it's the sea witch.
Then both have songs about turning human.
the biggest differences though, is that in The Princess and the Frog, the song is more happy and upbeat and she actually HELPS. You know, rather than it being a "sell your soul" kind of deal that is meant to backfire on the "client" and end up furthering some goal that the magic-lady has.
But Poor Unfortunate Souls is a much more "powerful" song. I'm really glad I found it on Spotify, since I've only watched The Little Mermaid in swedish. The song is SO much better in English.

Oh and in Princess and the Frog, Friends on the Other Side is probably the best song number. The song itself is pretty nice, but the visuals just makes it AWESOME. Dr. Facilier, a.k.a. The Shadow Man, is one of my favorite Disney Bad Guys now. :)
