As promised all those ages ago (Sorry, got caught up in a lot of stuff, Generation V certainly included).
This is what today's load of art is about for the most part.
This particular bit of art was made for Squiby adoptables, hence tinyness and random EGG.
You may not immediately recognize them as such, but this is how I've always imagined them - Electabuzzes. One of my personal favorite Electric-types ever. One of the comments I've received in the past regarding my particular vision of Electabuzz is that they're far more slender and streamlined than the 'official' vision. Under the tag is a bit of a bio-rant on Buzzes explaining just what made me see them the way I do... And why are the official-styled ones so much like Anthropomorphic Goombas. >>;
You see, much like most PokeMon, Electabuzzes are their own class of intelligent creature. If one were to compare them to Earth fauna, one would find that they traits common to felines, primates (like their general stance and the structure of their arms as well the structure of their life structure) and proto-avian archosaurids (Like their leg structure and the structure of their neck). Like many other electric-types, Electabuzz are extremely sensitive to electric fields and potential changes and are usually drawn to more 'charged' areas, sometimes leading to migrations of packs.
In their natural habitats in the wild - mountainous forested areas, preferably storm-prone ones - Electabuzz live in groups with a structured social structure (in a manner similar to Earth primates) - which both assists them in protection from major threats as well as in hunting.
Electricity plays a major part in communication between individuals. Electabuzz have a very intricate form of 'language' consisting of vocalization, stances and the usage of alternating pulses of electricity. An Electabuzz can transfer a lot of information to another one (simply by touching them and controlling the electric fields and currents in the immediate area) with accuracy that has been compared to that of telepathy. When two Electabuzz - familiar or unfamiliar - meet, they are likely to touch each other and commune electrically in order to determine identity and status.
The diet of Electabuzz has a dual omnivorous/ergovorous nature: they do require organic nutrients as a source for base materials, but another source of nourishment for them is derived from a form of electrochemical synthesis which they fuel through the absorption of electric charges. In the wild, Electabuzz get most of their massive 'power boosts' from atmospheric charges - predominantly, lightning storms - and most of the charge they acquire and store naturally dissipates over time due to use in communication or attacks.
There is, however, such a thing as too much of a good thing. Human-made power sources made electricity far more available for groups of Electabuzz than it would normally be, in relatively continuous input as opposed to large, momentary bursts - leading to the creatures being drawn to these power sources and gorging themselves on electricity beyond the amount they would need to normally feed on, with much less activity required to get at it - So it's essentially become McDonald's for Electabuzz. It all went downhill from there. And all the 'buzzes you find in-game are found in the general areas of power plants. I think you can see where I'm going with this.
However, not all is peaceful for these larger, gorged-on-electricity 'Buzzes - battles still occur, and on occasion, Buzzes aren't the only species involved. In this picture we see a male specimen fending off a swarm of Magnemites...
When standing fully bipedally, average adult Electabuzz have the general height around 1.5-1.75 meters (to hell with PokeDex sizes, they're very rough estimate shullbit and you KNOW it), though individuals in the general 1.8m area have been spotted. Their primary fur color is goldish, ranging from a pale ivory-like 'white gold' hue to deeper golds, sometimes coppery reddish-golds (One such variant has a bright sheen which has deemed it a 'shining' variant) with black markings that vary from individual to individual though usually remain along the same typical formation. Melanistic ("Panther-like") and Albinistic individuals have also been spotted. Eye colors are often along the reddish-brown spectrum (though individuals with lighter eyes, and even blue and green eyes have been spotted). Females usually have longer, more luxuriant manes than the males, though exceptions always occur.
With my massive appreciation for the species, I have multiple OCs that either ARE 'Buzzes or have 'Buzzes in their team.
This is Mari, my most significant Electabuzz character. She's part of an OC named Gad Sylvanhart's team and the first PokeMon he caught (and his second altogether) - though over the years, they developed a relationship that can only be defined as romantic. Stop giving me weird looks damnit.
Mari got
a hell of a lot of art over the years (she's been around since 2006 or so) so I figured several compilations were in order. Don't ask me what posessed me to draw her as Gardenia in that final pic. >>
These two are sort of alternate-universe parallels of Gad and Mari, only species-reversed. The girl is still nameless, but the 'buzz's name is Dys, and his most powerful technique is a high-powered grass-type Hidden Power. I'm really fond of that second picture, personally. Grass HP rules.
Jäger belongs to another character that I've yet to seriously develop, and he is a melanistic individual with a bit of a speed bias.
Tesla is a wild individual, in more ways than one. She and her parents were of a very low social standing in her pack. Shortly after she evolved from Elekid to Electabuzz her father got into a massive battle with the pack's leader, and was grievously injured. Something in that made the young Electabuzz snap, leading to a wild, unperdictable electrical storm. Deemed a threat to the entire pack, Tesla was driven away and left behind. How she survived could be attributed to sheer tenacity and bloody-mindedness. To this day, she is still deranged, constantly on the search of new power sources to absorb and increase her power, which she often releases in massive uncontrolled bursts of Thunder. I get the feeling that she's going to acquire the Wild Bolt technique at some point, though this is yet unknown seeing as, well, Isshu. XD
Welp. So much for five tons of 'buzz. Next posts I make will probably be a lot less crazy. XD
