I wanted to share a stupid fun thing I made at work today!
First, a bit of an explanation: I work at a children's art camp (probably my last year, since I'm going to be going to college in the fall), and every day we do new activities. Today we made clay whistles! They are rotund little things and we decorated them. GUESS WHAT I TURNED MINE INTO:
He even makes a "Hoooo~" noise, too. (you blow in his tail feathers, not his butt 8,D)
I'll probably share again when I've finished and painted him; anyone here have any tips on painting a sculpture...? I'm absolutely atrocious at sculpting to begin with, I don't know anything about the art. XD;
Oh, and I hope this is appropriate (easily deleted if not)- one of my students is a huge pokemon fan, and has made all of his projects with pokemon in mind after seeing my pokewalker (with my Hoothoot, Jacques) and realising I would be able to help him make it LOOK like a pokemon.
We did totem pole-esque carvings in a block of floral foam. I don't think the kids quite got that it was supposed to be 3D, but it's alright I guess. We painted them with gesso and painted them with acrylics today! He based his on the "Dark Dragonite" card. :)
(
mine was totally based on the world's best animal ever, an
oarfish!!!)
And his clay flute was a Snorlax! I thought it was appropriate, what with the pokeflute and all that! I don't think his makes noise, though. :( (He... squished his while putting on the details. Clyburn and I tried to fix it but I don't think it worked very well.)
