Yeah, uh, that'd...that'd be me. Wow. Um, that was... I am officially made of lose, especially given how often folks told me to get on here and update during last school year.
Yes, I know. I missed a whole school year. Time flies when you... uh... what was I doing? Hell if I know, fudge it.
Okay. Clearly, I have some ground to cover. So, in the worlds of Strong Bad, let's get this train wreck a-rollin'.
Classes this year were fun but difficult. Got to take some great stuff like Video Game Design and Muppet Magic (I know, sounds silly, but it was actually a very interesting course about puppetry in general, and was helpful in different forms of story telling and... yeah. I liked.), and finally made it into my psych major proper. Now all I gotta do is make all the requirements in... um... yeah. Well, hey, as long as I get credit for EVERY class I take from here on in and don't screw up even once, I'll be fine! @_@
Nah, the crunch ain't that bad. Just that it IS a very serious deep major, and I do have to keep myself moving and learning, which isn't that hard given I have an interest in the material. And on the plus side, all my other requirements for graduating are done, so yay!
Other than class, the year was a BLAST. Got involved in Vampire LARP thanks to my housemate Jacob, hung out a ton with (and gamed with in multiple games) Jack and Anais, watched some fresh anime (Jigoku Shoujo... very good.), chilled with the ever spiffy Talia, and even managed to work in some solid writing time, albeit nowhere NEAR what I wanted to have accomplished. Then again, I ever get that wish, I'll wake up to find Dragonfly and Nexus Citadel DVDs in a collector's box at the front door, with extra merchandise. And a fat check, the first of many to come.
Let's see... Charity is up at UCSC now, and yay for it. It's so much fun having her on campus, and being able to have classes with her. I went to AniZona, with a few other folks, by Greyhound Bus... and subsequently on a related note, missed this year's AnimeExpo (Sob!) because, fiscally, it wasn't a good move after AniZona. Ah well. Least I did see a really fun Masq in Arizona.
Also, of special note, I am currently running a Mutants and Masterminds d20-base game for Jack, Anais, Katie, and (kindasortamaybe at this point) Jacob. Why is this of SPECIAL note? It's based on Nexus Citadel... hell, at this point, it's branched into some of my work that NC doesn't even touch on. And as a result, I have been getting to field test a lot of NC and DF stuff... and so far, I like the results. So do the gamers, it seems... at least all the time taken in side RPs for folks in this seems to indicate it is so. ^_^;;
Other points of interest... let's see. Oh! I was REALLY insane and because of a bus strike actually hot footed the multihour trek to a GameStop in another town, because I pre-ordered Soul Calibur III there, and damnit, it came out and I wanted it BAD. Also got into the Katamari games, and happily snagged and bagged a copy of Dynasty Warriors 5 in the closing weeks of the school year. That game has been seeing mucho play, as has Smackdown Vs. Raw (the original), which I had gotten for a song down at Streetlight Records. My created Jenova and 11 are fun to pit against each other CPU played, and also a blast TO play. And on SC III, I currently have a very-fun rendition of Entrophy that inspired me to new ideas of evil for his power and ability in NC. Bwaha. Oh, and I have a Hin. He's cool. I need more NC and DF created folks in these games though. Especially SvsR.
Recent goings on... let's see. Through confusion and WTF-ery, I am currently 'on hold' for Record Surplus, in spite of being told last summer and this past winter break and this past spring break that I would have a place when I got in. Not totally their fault, and I won't go into it. I've started doing a retooling of the world schemas for my multiverse, going into deeper depths for the worlds and settings, due in no small part to their actual direct usage in the tabletop game. I swear, by campaign's end, I may actually have something here. Doesn't hurt matters any that, after seeing Anais's renditions of Loki and Jenova, I got a massive creative boost. Seeing renditions of my peeps always does that, and it coming from an amazing artist doesn't hurt matters any.
To that end, actually, this past year I've been doing 'snippits'... scenes and bits of scenes for NC and DF in a somewhat haphazard scattershot fashion. Some stuff I've written will make the cut, some won't, but it's all been VERY helpful in understanding the who, what, and why better than before. NC, and as a result my entire multiversal model, has gained a new sharper focus, something I am very thankful for and want to thank the way-too-many folks who've helped me to here about. See the entry that did that way below, and add on every name I mentioned here.
Maybe, over the next week or two, I'll add a piece here and a piece there... I've already got two pieces ready for adding, and I'll add them in a few minutes. They're just these snippit interviews, in timeline taken just before Nexus Citadel begins, with 11 and Jenova. I'm thinking of doings these for all the NC folks, in one form or another... just to have them on tap. Hopefully these won't be the last additions for months... if so, I really REALLY need to be slapped. Yeesh.
