The good news is that my helmet works perfectly. It's comfortable, it fits, it doesn't bounce around or give me a headache -- in short, I love it and I'm looking forward to wearing it more.

However, I kind of fail as a rider. Not only do I not keep my balance, but I sort of crouch over when I get nervous which unbalances even more, but I also suck at steering. It doesn't sound like a lot when I put it there, but when I'm the only one running into corners and everyonen else is like, "La! We ride so well without stirrups whee!" I feel a bit like an idiot. I think I was concentrating too much on not falling off and forgot to shorten my reins/balance myself/etc. Sometimes I wonder if I'm in the wrong class. But Lani hasn't approached me in disgust, so I'll continue this way -- and retake this class next year pfft as if I'm going into the next level the way I am now.

Montpellier sounds like a really fun place. It's year-only, and the directrice explained it well: When you go for a semester, it takes a while to get used to everything, then to learn your favorite places to go and make French friends and juuuuuust when you start to feel comfortable you come back. It makes sense. I now know where Montpellier is, too! Hello, I fail. It's described as a city that's big enough to not be bored but not so big you feel lost (à la Paris). We have a choice between homestay and apartment, and I keep forgetting that apartment does not mean dorm room, and we'd have a kitchen and a bathroom and more than just 200 sq ft for two people. :/ She said people don't often choose homestays; also, since by the time we're juniors we've been away from home and virtually on our own (kind of?) for two years, and then we'd have to be back in that situation. It would be difficult.

I have no idea if Sweet Briar is sending someone over to recruit us. If they haven't yet - since app deadline is Dec. 1 - then probably not. I'll look over the websites more, but otherwise Montpellier sounds pretty nice. :D

Now to shower and then watch The Day After Tomorrow, which will be excellent with my JBLs. ^-^
