Now, I know you'll disagree, but trust me when I say that there's nothing wrong with playing the woe-is-me card every now and then, especially for you, who does it once every a million and three years. It's normal to feel insecure about this sort of change, but you want to change, and it's not being forced on you. That alone will make you stronger for any of that stuff that, I won't lie, might happen.

Being in the same place is comfortable, but what if there's something better out there? You gotta try while you're still young. And if you run into that 18 year-old supermodel genius [which don't exist, btw], just throw her off with sarcasm. Those people wouldn't know what that is if it came and bit them in the nose.

thanks, bb, that makes me feel a bit better :) i just don't like to make people roll their eyes and think "aw man, ANOTHER whine?" i'm going to be older than everyone (i'm pretty sure, anyway) and i will be thought of as weird. which, in all honesty, i am, so what's the big deal? xD i just hope i can wear my weird patch with the humor and grace. :)
i know there's something better, it's just scary to leave my comfort zone like this. and i gotta brush up on my sarcasm... all my good one-liners are older than the combined ages of the Rolling Stones. xD

well good for you for going back to school!
i let people keep me from going back to
and i regret it every day!
so don't let them make you feel unsecure, yes it will be hard, seeing you will be older and are out of studying a bit
but it will be worth it!
and if you really really want it, that's all the motivation you need to succeed!
good luck!

thank you, sweetheart! i'm not letting anything keep me from going; i know the only way i'm going to be truly happy with myself is to go after my dreams, despite the naysayers. which, fortunately are few and far between so far. everyone else (including close family members and even my dad's best friend) all say i'm doing the right thing :)

If you really want you WILL make it work. I have absolute faith in that.

him not understanding that where you were was a job not a career is aggravating.. getting your degree may open you up to something MUCH better

actually, i'll be making more... i'm in state government as a grant-funded employee, and we haven't had a raise since 2008. but i'm going into a medical specialty field, so i'll be looking at dollars. :D
