... and okay guys. I suddenly had a couple OLD OLD SONGS -- like ones I haven't heard in at least six years -- pop into my head earlier today. As a result I had to search out one of my ooooold CDs, and get EVERY SINGLE YUU YUU HAKUSHO SONG I HAVE ONTO MY IPOD OH GOD -- and! As a result! I have fallen totally back in love with this music because oh my god you guys it is so dorky. And '90s. And dorky, and it is somehow even gayer and girlier than the Reborn songs and I don't know how it did that.
But this is all just BLAST FROM THE PAAAAAST and even if you've never heard the songs before, or seen the show, well, it's just -- it's awesome! You can listen to this and think "ohhhh yeah this came out in 1992" AND IT TOTALLY DID. It's such a trip to listen to, it's old-school in like the best way, and I immediately knew I had to SHARE IT WITH THE CLASS... so, you know, here it is, in all its... old-school nineties poppy girly-shounen glory! And seriously, even if you're not familiar with or really into the series, if you like Japanese music or... old '90s-type music at all, give this a try, seriously. It was totally a delight to hear all the stuff again, I just started laughing at times at how EPICALLY CLASSIC and OLD and EXTREME!!!! in that old-fashioned trying-to-be-awesome-and-coming-out-silly old shounen way. It was a blast and I'm glad I found it again.
After I finish Transformers Animated, I am totally going to re-watch all of Yuu Yuu Hakusho. All of it. All 112 episodes, Because I Can, and because I forgot how much I absolutely loved this series, and how it introduced me to awesome, lovable, dorky shounen with its dorky characters and silliness and EPIC FIGHTING PLOTZ!!! and deep impressive ass-kicking shounen friendships and pretty much... everything. This series probably planted the roots for my love of Reborn, and I think that even with all the classics out there that I've seen, and all my new loves, when it comes to sheer fun, this one will always be one of my favorites.
Really hope y'all
enjoy the music, guys, this is like... if not my childhood, then my teenage years, one of the first animus I ever clapped eyes on, and I'm totally looking back through rose-coloured glasses but -- it was so much fun, seriously, and I feel kinda sad that I can't get back there. I think in the end, though, I enjoy where I am now, so it's all good... but that first excitement and amazement and love and squee and fun? That was a pretty epic experience. ♥
