Hello there, you don't know me and till now I've never known you either. However, I was honestly quite surprised and impressed to find that a Singaporean had made it as one of the Popular Photography best images of the year, so I had to find out who you were. I checked out your flickr account and your photos were really inspiring. I couldn't comment because I forgot my flickr account password (never really used flickr much anyway, just got an account to look at the photos of my baby nephew).
Well, yes, just saying congrats! Although I'm not a very patriotic person, I'd like to say you've done something important, by proving that (some) Singaporean photographers are capable of more than bland photos of flowers and old people selling newspapers.
I dabble with photography a little and yes, you've inspired me, and for that I thank you.
Ken Thongudomporn (I am Singaporean, really. Just a Thai-Chinese one. I can be googled!! HAHAHA.)

hello Ken,
I am really flattered by your message. However, I don't know where you got to know about the Popular photography best images of the year. I'm really clueless...

Lol, of course I know about Popular Photography. I visit the site all the time to check out camera nonsense. And when they had the best images of the year thing, I checked it out. Normally most of the entries are obviously from all the other countries but this time I saw, Samanta Mintio (something like that right?), Singapore and at first I thought it was just a mistake and I went on, but I kept thinking, 'maybe it really IS a singaporean!' so I went back and, holy cow, it really was a Singaporean, and it was you. So I googled your name to find out if you were some bigshot celebrity photographer!

Yikes, I totally wouldn't know about this if you hadn't located me and told me about it. When I read your message I absolutely didn't know what you were talking about. But now I remember submitting my entries a long time ago for this. Thank you so much for finding me! Its really nice getting to know you through this. Anyway, the pieces that you saw online are currently exhibiting at 2902 Gallery at Old School all the way till January. 6 of them have been fully realized to 4 by 5 ft polycarbonate pieces suspended as an installation. Do drop by if you have the time. Will definitely like to hear about them from you...
Went to the gallery today!

Those photos look amazing printed large! And the translucency adds this surreal three dimensional effect. Nice, very nice. I would buy one but I can barely afford a pack of cigarettes at this time. Haha.

thank you so much for popping by! Hearing from you about the prints makes me glad my efforts came through. Think the hardest part of the whole process got to be translating the images from screen to print.
