Interesting point on 'Harry Potter' movies

I just read this quote about the Harry Potter movies and how they chose to focus them in more:

The films really took a fundamental turn when Steve working with Alfonso Cuaron made the decision to tell the story from Harry Potter's point of view, as opposed to translating the books to film. At that point, there were sort of necessary omissions along the way so something that we loved, for example something like SPEW, which is Hermione's interest in the house elves, we love that but it is omitted because it wasn't part of Harry's story.

I always tried to find a way to express how I felt about the Harry Potter movies and the way they are presented, but I never actually knew how to phrase it.  For me, as I always said, it all became very teen-focused and trio-centric.  I never thought to put it like this - that it is actually HARRY-centric and so anything not directly pertaining to Harry's story and how it affected Harry would be cast aside.  That actually is THE perfect way to put it.

And I can see why they chose to do that from 3 onwards because it makes it simpler to condense and pick and choose, but this really clarifies exactly why I'm not such a fan of the movies compared to the books - I don't like Harry all that much!  HA!   That's why I like the books, I guess, because they may be called Harry Potter and the *insert whatever here,* but there are many more stories than just his!

(Of course, after all this, Neen's just going to say "Reading stinks.  You should've just not read the books."  Yes, you continue to believe/say that Neen. :P)

On a note related to all this - I can't believe the 6th HP movie is out next week!!  It doesn't feel like it AT ALL.  For one thing, my HP-girl's gonna be in Europe and for another... I just don't even feel like it's coming out.  Summertime HP is weird.  It should be for wintertime only, haha.
