I wrote these a couple weeks ago and then forgot about them. Whoops?
Batwoman #7: Mostly a downtime issue. Nothing to write home about.
Huntress #5-6: I still think the writing is a little...lacking, somehow, but I really enjoyed this series. The art is freaking gorgeous and Marcus To is officially on my Artists to Watch list now (the clothes! Helena looks so elegant and continental! I LOVE IT). Also, the end made me chinhands. GIRLS. GIRLS WHO ARE FRIENDS (and maybe in love? :D?).
Justice League International #7: Okay, so let me get this straight:
1. Both Fire and Ice are unable to protect themselves from being burned, but Godiva is fine. (Not that I want Godiva to get hurt, it's just I can't imagine hair being much protection from flames.)
2. Three women have been removed from the team due to severe injuries. Two of them are women of color. All of the American (and Canadian, I guess) white dudes are fine.
3. Two civilian supporting characters are dead, both minorities, one female.
4. After six issues of Batman telling Booster to lead, he immediately takes over. HE DOESN'T EVEN GO HERE.
5. Batman lays his cape over Gavril's dead body, then has it back on the next page. Did he immediately take it off? Stay classy, Bruce.
6. 90% of Booster's narration goes: "We thought everything was great, but actually we're failures." 100% of the non-JLI characters' dialogue goes: "You are failures."
7. The UN is disbanding the JLI for being attacked. That...makes sense.
8. The guy who did all this says things like, "I'm gonna light you up!" Whatever that means.
No. I'm done. This comes off my pull list now.
I would, however, like to note that DC has really outdone themselves in getting me to drop both Blue Beetle and JLI. I would have read either one indefinitely if they were only mediocre. They have to be really fucking offensive to turn Ms. Owns Every Booster Gold Action Figure Ever Made off.
Supergirl #7: You guys, I really love this book. Kara's a hero! A smart, awesome hero! With good villains! And pretty, pretty hair! :D :D :D
Tiny Titans #50: I kind of wish this had been awful so I didn't have to feel so sad about it being the last issue, but no, it was adorable as usual. Also, I am so excited about Superman Family Adventures I can't even. CAN. NOT. EVEN.
Wonder Woman #7: Hoo boy. So the Amazons seduce and murder men and would drown baby boys if they couldn't profit off of it? That's...that's charming, there, Azzarello. I did see one post that suggested that Hephaestus is an unreliable narrator, and I hope that's true, because...look, I'm not saying the Amazons have to be perfect in the original Marston vein, but I'm not okay with making them evil.
