Thank you all for your kind comments on the post yesterday.  Last night, the kitty was having trouble standing up and seemed to be in a really bad way; and then this morning he was all bright-eyed and mewing for food and almost his old self again; and then he laid down in his chair for several hours, glassy-eyed, twitching, his breathing shallow and labored and The Boy and I were certain it was the end and we just sat with him and petted him and told him we loved him and cried; and then he popped up and ate a can of food.

So yeah. I don't know.  It wouldn't surprise me if he didn't make it to the end of the week, and it wouldn't surprise me if he outlived us all.  HE IS SCHRODINGER'S CAT.

In other news, my elderly uncle passed away this morning after a stroke.  He and I weren't close (he was one of those loveable curmudgeon types that the older cousins adored but the younger cousins, like myself, found vaguely terrifying), so I don't really feel much about his passing other than sympathy for my aunt and their children, but I know that there are people in my family that are upset about it and here I am freaking out over my goddamned cat and ugh.  Sometimes I suspect I am not a very good person.
