So, things happening in my life.

I was wrong with my money from the last post. Right after I got fired, I applied for some really awesome and very cheap health insurance through Blue Cross Blue Shield (Hoosier Healthwise). I got an e-mail from them last week saying I was denied because of my undiagnosed, untreated shoulder problems. Great, right? Wrong. That was only for the health insurance covering doctor's visits and things, it did not include my dental, which I was approved for, apparently. I still haven't received any information about it yet, but I did send them a reply back asking for it to be canceled since I obviously can't afford it anymore.

Also, I have a student loan and they don't allow you to do any kind of deferments whatsoever by phone or online, so I had to print off all this information and give them copies of all this shit, which was ridiculous, and mail it to them. Its probably not going to get to them in time, so I'll probably have to make the payment on that ($40, not much, but way more than I can afford right now). They should definitely have it processed by my next due date in February, though, so that'll be nice.

Thawed out some frozen game hen from the freezer and made honey glazed hen for dinner last night with sliced potatoes and corn on the cob. I took a picture on my camera phone, so I'll probably end up uploading that to my facebook.

Good news! Got a Christmas package from my parents yesterday. Got a copy of "Flight of Dragons" and "Harry Potter and the Half-blood Prince." It also included a box of chocolates (one for each of us) and Kris and I each got a pair of earrings. Rents also gave me and Kissy checks for $100 and Ian got two checks, one for $100 and another for $50.

Ian's going to be paying his utilities with the money, but right now he has nothing to put towards his rent. He's also planning on calling the unemployment office later this week to see if they've made a decision yet (called last week, the END of the 8th week, which is the maximum they're supposed to have to make these decisions, but they still hadn't).
Also, don't know if I mentioned this in the last post. Ian stopped by his landlord's office last week to say he couldn't make the rent. They gave him some information about a local organization that helps those who can't make their rent pay it. He called them up earlier today, but unfortunately they've already used up all of their stimulus money and because of that, stopped accepting applications the first of November. Suck.

I spoke to the unemployment agency last week and it seems my stuff was all fucked up. I sent them yet another fax with further information so they could update my account correctly. The representative I was on the phone with said that since I already received a ruling about the denial of dispute on the part of Sallie Mae, once all my info is straightened out, I should be receiving my unemployment checks ASAP. Cool. So, first thing I plan to do with the back payments is help Ian pay his rent. I'm also trying to get him to cancel all of his utilities since he's been primarily staying with us. I also mentioned to our landlords that his lease is going to be up in a few months, but I haven't heard a decision yet as to whether or not they're willing to let us add him on to the lease.

I have gotten a few calls about employment opportunities. I got a call from ACS asking if I was still interested. I said yes, of course, and advised them of my course schedule coming up starting January. They said they'd have to get with a recruitment specialist to check out the times they have available and would get back to me about setting up an interview. That was a week ago and I've still heard nothing.
Got a call last night from Manpower asking if I was still interested. Obviously I said yes, of course. We went through a few things by phone and I informed them of my course schedule for next semester and they said that was a problem since they were looking only for 2nd shift and my classes don't start until five and go all the way to 9 or 10 o'clock. I advised them that I wouldn't be taking classes over summer and in the Fall most of the classes I would be needing to take for my major would be offered only during the day, so I asked that they keep me in mind should they still need more people to fill the position come that time.

Other than that, I haven't heard from anyone. I have already printed off a resume and will be mailing it out as an application for a receptionist at a local dental office to see if I can get that. Other than that...not much is happening.

Kris ended up helping out with some groceries last week. I still had some money in my BSFCU account, so I took most of that out and put it into my Chase account so I'd have enough to cover the dental and student loan payments. Ian also gave me some cash he had on hand so I'd be able to keep my account in the positive.

We went grocery shopping again today. We had most of the stuff for it, but a few things we didn't, so we went and got the rest of the items we needed to make a Red Velvet cake with buttercream filling. I'm going to be making it all from scratch. I've never had red velvet cake before, so I wanted to try making it. I picked up some recipes online from various sources and FoodNetwork, so I'll try that out and see how it goes.

The cats are pretty content. The kittens are starting to eat real food, but they still like Mittens feeding them as well. Flash used the litter box today, but we're having a problem getting Embers to view it as a bathroom rather than a food dish. She's continually peeing and pooping in Kristin's room. Hopefully she'll catch on and go in the cat room.

We're really procrastinating. We really should be cleaning and clearing out the cat room in anticipation of Ian's things and him moving in, but none of us have done anything. I'm hoping by next week we'll at least have the desk moved into my room, which would clear up a lot of space in the cat room.
